Wrestlemania 9 took place 4 days later after this interview on Sunday 4th April in Las Vegas. Hogan had just returned to the WWF and was facing IRS & Ted Dibiase in a tag match with Brutus Beefcake. Hogan was 39 during this interview, and after the tag match he would then win the WWF Championship that night when he beat Yokozuna after Yokozuna had beat Bret Hart and immediately challenged Hogan to a title match. Is strange he never mentioned Wrestlemania during the interview. Hogan would fight with a black eye during Wrestlermania 9, due to being hit by a jetski, but the urban myth which was backed up by Jim Cornette is he was walloped by Randy Savage. This would have occurred during the timeframe of 4 days between this interview and Wrestlemania 9.

She spits blood to this day if I mention his name, 31 years later! Also quite hilarious how he tried to make excuses for his dramatic 'weight loss'. It's because the WWF's then owner, Vince McMahon, was currently on trial for distributing steroids to his wrestlers. Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior had shrinked back down to human size by this point, to avoid the inevitable lawsuits!

But if you look not only at Hogan, but at Beefcake - he looked like a tub of lard in 1993 compared to how he looked even a year earlier. Randy Savage quit going shirtless altogether in 1992. Hercules was clearly off the gas then gone by Spring 1992. Heck even Shawn Michaels lost his trim shape for maybe a year or so around that time. Fake is implying they're playing pretend. You can't pretend with a 300lbs guy. I wrestled in the past and the word "fake" is beyond ignorant. It's pre determined. Wrestlers do get hurt and sometimes severely. It's tremendously rough on the body long term. Hogan did well here taking it off the chin and defusing the situation with sort of education, rather than being defensive. Scripted, yes. Fake, it is not.

I always hated when people ask that question because if you're not a wrestling fan and you don't understand the business It's not a fair question to ask. To people that don't understand what wrestling is then yes it's fake. They are stunt men performing stunts in front of a live crowd, nobody is really winning or losing and the titles don't actually mean anything. So by that term yes it's fake but what they put their bodies through and what they permanently suffer with from the injuries and the abuse after all those years by those terms it's very much real and that is why it's not fair to say it's fake. They are the hardest working people in the entertainment industry and sometimes things can go terribly wrong so to judge them in a negative way because they are acting is not fair.

He is right. Bringing in families through sports entertainment Vs good old fashioned pro wrasslin' will always make more money. Aew wanted to go against this but now Danielson, mjf, omega are all injured probably due to wreslting stiff / showing off tougher spots more often and now major talent is all out at the same time. If everyone is hitting pile drivers for a 2 count every week, combined with blood and guts, wrassling/fight fans will get bored and demand more or leave. Actually quite shrewd by Vince/Hogan to move in this specific direction. Family based entertainment.

  • @FangMcFrost

Omega is currently out due to Diverticulitis which has nothing to do with how he wrestles. Danielson is injured due to an accident, which I wouldn't say was due to how he wrestles either as Undertaker suffered the same injury in 1995 and both men wrestle totally different styles. It's just one of those freak accidents that happens within professional wrestling. As for MJF, his torn labrum is a recurring injury as the same injury occurred for him back in 2020 and around that time he was hardly wrestling and when he did wrestle, his matches were around five minutes long, so I think his injury can be put down to how he wrestles as he's probably been wrestling in a way that his body can't handle. That is all on him however, as he's also been doing spots on the fly, such as doing an elbow drop on to the floor when the table (which would have cushioned his fall) collapsed after he placed Jay White on to it during their match at Full Gear. MJF could have just moved on after that spot failed but he made the mistake of continuing with the spot anyway but without any protection (that being the table).

Unpopular opinion perhaps but he really should have revisited the Thunderlips character! That was brilliant imo I had a discussion with my colleague about this he maintained if it wasn’t scripted like it is people would get too seriously hurt.. However I think they went a little too far ultimately.. I prefer how it was in the 70’s and 80’s presented more as a sport and while there were storylines and such it wasn’t a literal soap opera

@@wildwine6400 My friend, I am sorry if my words are harsh, but some Americans like you are easy to deceive. You judge things with incomplete information.misinformation. Hulk Hogan does not claim to lie, he forgets, but you prefer to call him a liar. He forgot his place at WrestleMania 30. He said Silver Doom instead of Super Doom. This does not mean that he is a liar. Hulk Hogan sometimes speaks as Hulk Hogan and not as terry bollea. He said it once in court when the lawyer asked him. He said that he speaks as Hulk Hogan, which is why he exaggerates his words sometimes. He also said it in his interview with The Voice as well. He said that I am taking advantage of that. It is clear that he is doing this because he is tired of the journalists trying to attack him, which is why he speaks like Hulk Hogan. You do not distinguish the difference between his speech as Hulk Hogan and his speech as terry bollea. you want to talk abou lying. some of you wrestling Fans are the biggest liars on the face of the earth. When you parrot each other's words and spread lies that Hulk Hogan never wants to lose, even though he lost many matches in WCW and when he returned to WWE in 2002 and 2003, this all proves that many of you are real liars.

The term sports entertainment came about not for the kids, but for tax reasons, and legal reasons. Claiming to be a real sport they would have had to engage in real and regular drug testing. (Also the real reason Hulk lost weight, he stopped taking steroids) Tax would also have been much higher as a sporting entity than an entertainment industry.

But that IS what happened - it was McMahon in 1989 that publicly announced it (mainly to avoid having to pay state commissions), and at that time it was right in the middle of the McMahon / Hogan empire, so you can bet 100% that they discussed it before it happened. This is actually one of the things Hogan says that is LEAST likely to be a lie.
