Thanks for reminding me of how good racing really was back then. Those were the golden days of Indycar racing.

17 years ago - look at these cars and the racing. Sooo much better than what Tony George has singlehandedly left us today. So sad. All the best to Indycar racing getting back to the good ol' days!

the best thing about this track is that over all these years the track layout has not changed to much which is rare in motorsport these days. this years indy 300 will have its 4 millionth fan enter the gates hope its me.

Ahh the memories! You can talk all day about which driver is the best ever, you can even debate the pro's and con's of F1 and Indycar (as it was then) However for me 1993 just bought together a great driver with a great championship. Mansell was on top of his game driving in an exciting series of races.

In 1992 at Monaco he was leading 6-7 laps before the end. In 1993 at Indianapolis he was leading just some laps before the end of the race when a yellow flag took him the victory. Nigel was always very unlucky, that's the reason why he is "only" a one-time F1 world champion.

I don't care who is racing, Indy Car is just f-ing fun to watch and listen to. I miss Sunday afternoons :(

He won the F1 world trophy in 1992. A year later in 1993 he won the IndyCar trophy as well, how great is that? The only down bits in his career is that he newer won the Monaco GP or Indy 500.

Mansell did show the Worl the difference Between cart and F1.The F1 champion come to Champ cars and showed them the way.

Because he fell out with Frank Williams (who he drove for in 1994 while competing in the PPGIndyCar World Series for Newman/Haas Racing) in 1992.

@TheBigRedEvil Because he found out they would hire Alain Prost alongside him for 1993. Since Prost left Ferrari at the end of 1990 being furious that Prost (who was his team mate there in 1990) got better treatment, he didn't want a rerun of that, especially since the French Renault engines powered the Williams. He then foolishly signed for McLaren in 1995 and lasted two races before retiring from the sport.

the Williams Renault that Mansell drove 1992 was the best package of the year. It seems to me that with Mansell they also had best driver hmmm. Good thing I could see this on Eurosport (puches chest).

This video is probably my favourite on the whole of youtube! Except perhaps the one i saw of some random woman giving birth! Nice. I remmember watching this race on Eurosport! Indycar was the most competitive, most exciting, had the best fan interaction and was the greatest form of motorsport in the world until IRL came marching in and destroyed it. RIP Indycars. IRL and Champcar = B.O.R.I.N.G

That just shows how supreme Formula-1 is to American racing. A champion comes and blows everyone away. While indy/cart/irl champions come to F-1 and are midfielders or outsiders.
