I love watching the 84-94 dolphins their offense was so good and exciting to watch, during that decade whether they were a winning, mediocre or below 500 team they could still upset or beat anybody just on Marino's arm
Dan Marino was such an amazing player and a joy to watch.
My favorite player growing up was James Brooks who played on the Chargers and Bengals from 1981-1991. The Browns signed him prior to the 1992 season. It was hard to watch him play and not being anywhere near the player he was in the past. As a kid this was my first experience witnessing how fast abilities fade.
"Dan Marino impressed me a lot cause every time they had to go 2 minute to win it, he was going to do it. We were ahead of him in Cleveland. He got the ball back with a minute and 20 seconds or something left in the game. He trots on the field and you got your guys around you and you've been stopping him all day. He kinda looks at you and you kinda look at him. The players kinda look at him. He knows he's gonna win and your players know he's gonna win. And that's a bad feeling. And he goes out and win." - Nick Saban in 2019 when asked about greatest QBs he's seen.
Thanks Maurence for posting this one!! Great finish for anyone who hasn't seen this game.
ABC advertised that they were going to air these college football games on 9/19/1992 during and after this game:
Classic Dolphin uniforms looking good.
Nick Saban and Belichick on the same sideline. Wow !
One of Kosar's most heroic games. Played nearly 3 quarters on a badly broken ankle (that would be a season-ending injury) and somehow rallied that offense in spite of the horrible protection problems and lack of experience across the board...not to mention some of the dumbest offensive playcalling ever by Belichick and his lackey Steve Crosby.
I dont ever tired to watch DAN MARINO
This is when Frank Gifford still announced it as "Mon-Dee Night Football." I always loved that while growing up. And I remember this game. Kosar was still a good QB then. And his ability to play injured was noted.
I miss these MNF days.
The thing I'll never forget about this game is that Bernie led that comeback in the 2nd half playing on a broken leg, which would sideline him for the next 2 months.
Bernie Kosar played with so much heart. I wish the Browns could have protected him more. He took so many brutal sacks and hits after the throw. It seriously shortened his prime. Even in this game he broke his ankle in the first half but he kept playing and put us in position to win. NFL football was a different game in this era. Violent.
I was there.... I
Excellent, Kosar & Marino
I remember this was one of the first games I was able to see after the power came back a couple days before after Hurricane Andrew. We were out of power for over a month.
This was the game that wasn't even seen in Cleveland/Akron and Youngstown, Ohio areas. The reason at the time, whenever the game by the home market does not sell out before the 72 hours before the game deadline, the NFL 72 hour blackout rule for the home team's TV market goes into effect.
Hated losing Bobby Humphrey as a Broncos fan. He was as close to a 1B as possible for me as favorite player behind Elway on my personal list.
The Dolphins and the Patriots serving their byes in week 1 was the first instance of week 1 byes coming during a season where the NFL had an even number of teams.
