Monday night games in Kansas City in the early to mid 1990s were some of the best showcases the NFL had to offer. You could just feel the atmosphere at Arrowhead pulsating through the TV. Chiefs were 8-1 in MNF home games from 1991-97 and you could see why.

Nothing beats watching a old AFL rivalry game...plus the chiefs playing on the Astro Turf field, I miss the good old days of football

this game was played the night before the Stone Temple Pilots released their debut album, Core, and Alice in Chains their second album, Dirt the songs from the albums are now staples of classic rock radio

I live over 300 miles from KC, and have an Uncle that was a season ticket holder for 48 years. I've got to see many games over the years, and this was the first Monday night game I ever got to attend. What a memory!

Agree on both comments. The Raiders, I feel, had a quarterback problem right here, while David Krieg, was pretty good (I mean, if you can trade up for Joe Montana, well, yes!).

I agree. I think the 2010 updates to the stadium reduced noise. Also, that old hard turf may have reflected noise better. Sounds crazy, but it's like a house with wood floors compared to a carpeted house. The house with the wood floors resonates sound more.

The N.A.I.A players krieg from the defunct Milton college and Okoye from Azusa Pacific are doing great. The NFL today needs to scout small schools more.

This proves these clowns on the internet don’t know what they are talking about saying the chiefs had no fans before Mahomes. It’s crazy that Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson, Ronnie Lott, and Gunther Cunningham we’re on the same team. Gunther Cunningham was actually the DC for the LA Raiders at one point before eventually joining the Chiefs.

Marinovich should have been pulled but Al Davis's ordered him stay in the game for what reason? Its almost as if he instructed his own players to not block for Marcus whenever he was put into the game.

It's weird to see famous players in different uni's like Ronnie Lott in a Raider uni. I always will remember his as a 49er.

Amazingly, the Raiders would win their next three games giving up a TOTAL of 13 points to get back in to contention...only to be basically brought back to reality by the eventual Super Bowl champion Cowboys in LA. Raiders would actually beat the Chiefs for one of the only two times in the DECADE late in the 92 season. Just a weird year all around for the Raiders.

Should be 3 times, Raiders beat the Chiefs in 92, 96, and 99. The losses to the Raiders in 96 and 99 cost them a playoff spot in both years.

A minute into the 2nd quarter the Raiders are up 7-0 and have the ball first and ten at the KC 36. It was their game to lose at that point. And that's precisely what they did. They simply self-destructed for some reason.

Former ABC now FOX in Birmingham, Alabama (WBRC-TV Channel 6).

Raiders Marcus Allen and Broncos John Elway complaining about crowd noise and the refs penalizing the crowd for that noise is off the charts hilarious 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Arrowhead easily the best home field advantage at the time. Averaged 50,000 to 70000 or more fans.

Chiefs would be simply unbeatable if they had just 50% of this 1992 defense this season in 2018. Chiefs have a NOTORIOUSLY bad Defense this season but yet currently hold #1seed in AFC after 10 games played.

Which must have made the sight of Marcus Allen playing for the Chiefs *against* the Raiders the following season all the more difficult for die-hard Raiders fans to deal with emotionally. That was Al Davis' doing, not Marcus'.

I always say that... that was ALL Davis's doings. Marcus was the difference in those games as we missed the playoffs due to being sweep mostly in the 90s by the Chefs (lol)

I was at that game, and a few others from that era when crowd noise was supposed to be penalized. What did they think would happen when threating a penalty? The crowd just got louder.
