Monday night games in Kansas City in the early to mid 1990s were some of the best showcases the NFL had to offer. You could just feel the atmosphere at Arrowhead pulsating through the TV. Chiefs were 8-1 in MNF home games from 1991-97 and you could see why.

I live over 300 miles from KC, and have an Uncle that was a season ticket holder for 48 years. I've got to see many games over the years, and this was the first Monday night game I ever got to attend. What a memory!

I agree. I think the 2010 updates to the stadium reduced noise. Also, that old hard turf may have reflected noise better. Sounds crazy, but it's like a house with wood floors compared to a carpeted house. The house with the wood floors resonates sound more.

It’s crazy that Marcus Allen, Eric Dickerson, Ronnie Lott, and Gunther Cunningham we’re on the same team. Gunther Cunningham was actually the DC for the LA Raiders at one point before eventually joining the Chiefs.

Marinovich should have been pulled but Al Davis's ordered him stay in the game for what reason? Its almost as if he instructed his own players to not block for Marcus whenever he was put into the game.

Todd Marinovich is in his 27th year of pro football. At age 48 he plays for the Southern Cal Coyotes a semi pro team. I think Tom Brady should play to 50 and break George Blanda's record playing till the ripe age of 48 playing from 1948 to 1975.

Amazingly, the Raiders would win their next three games giving up a TOTAL of 13 points to get back in to contention...only to be basically brought back to reality by the eventual Super Bowl champion Cowboys in LA. Raiders would actually beat the Chiefs for one of the only two times in the DECADE late in the 92 season. Just a weird year all around for the Raiders.

Should be 3 times, Raiders beat the Chiefs in 92, 96, and 99. The losses to the Raiders in 96 and 99 cost them a playoff spot in both years.

A minute into the 2nd quarter the Raiders are up 7-0 and have the ball first and ten at the KC 36. It was their game to lose at that point. And that's precisely what they did. They simply self-destructed for some reason.

Which must have made the sight of Marcus Allen playing for the Chiefs *against* the Raiders the following season all the more difficult for die-hard Raiders fans to deal with emotionally. That was Al Davis' doing, not Marcus'.

I was at that game, and a few others from that era when crowd noise was supposed to be penalized. What did they think would happen when threating a penalty? The crowd just got louder.

Too lazy and didn't want to work... Art Shell was too lax of a coach because Al Davis was too meddling of an owner.
1:36:37 tyrant referees. It’s virtually impossible to prevent any home crowd from being quiet no matter how much they try and penalize their home team for the loud crowd noise.
