1991 FXRS Build Series! Ep.3- Let's talk FXR Swingarms!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On this episode, Scott continues work on his 1991 Harley Davidson FXRS. We drop stop by to see Andy at Howlin Custom Cycles here in Little Rock Arkansas to see a few FXR's that he is currently working on, while there we drop off the engine from this build, only to show up a few days later and see it completely split apart! This build is definitely moving faster than expected, which is a good thing!! Back at home, Scott finished pulling the trans and swingarm from the bike, and goes over a much needed solution to a big issue with older Harley Davidson swingarms like the one found in this FXR. So stay tuned til the end to see what I am talking about! Again, this will be the perfect build series for someone looking to rebuild their Harley FXR, or any older Harley EVO for that point.
As always, THANK YOU for following along!! Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE!! There will be plenty more videos of this bike dropping throughout the next month or two, so def keep an eye out for it!

I got a TBR on my 87 fxrs and I love it! Performs great and sounds even better. Had a thunderheader but had nothing but problems.

I here love and hate for the t headers why is that are they legendary sound and performance all around some people go nothing but t headers I think they look classic and sound great do they not perform?? Also I have a tbr on my fxbb and it sounds great and performs I know a lot of people say the same about them but so far no issues

You are going to want to put a couple of bucks into the rear shocks. The technology they put into the shocks today makes the FXR ride like a dream. Oh, and some Race Tech front fork emulators with a set of heavy-duty front springs. It will handle anything you can throw at it.

Way ahead of you. 😂. Got some nice 14” shocks for the rear and full race tech for the front. Hopefully the next episode I’ll be building the front up, just waiting on the damper rods

Using a file to clean the inside of the swing arm is a good idea.

Brah stopped messing with that stamped steel & do yourself a favor & get a "Fab Kevin" fxr swingarm kit. Dude is the best & passionate about his work.! Trust me you will love it. Stresses me out just looking at your swingarm.😂 Very reasonable prices & his work is top notch. All stock components still work with that swingarm upgrade.

Trust me, if I had the money I would go crazy on this bike. Main goal is to keep it clean and budget friendly. Plans are to build another one this summer that is a little more wild. Plus we are gearing up to start on Justin’s son’s FXR so it’s nice to have a variety of different style builds on here

@@Me.MyMachinist.and.l I hear you on the budget! Cool man. The kit is only $450. Considering what they charge just for those axle billet inserts it's a bargain. Happy Holidays!
