I had a 1990 Plymouth Voyager Turbo that my parents bought for a cross country trip and then they gave it to me to drive in high school until I graduated in 1994. I loved that van it was Maroon and loaded basically . If you floored it at about 5 to 10 mph the front tires would melt there was some lag. I was the Taxi of all my friends loved that van took it to Florida for spring break and so easy to get so much more power out of it. I put a Volvo Turbo Inter-cooler on it and easily boosted it another 30 Hp . Smoothest four I have ever had did not feel like a four smoothest engine I have ever had..Had a very unique sound to the engine.

No my Mom did not like it she never liked American cars and never had one,Mom bought a 1991 Volvo Turbo . I loved that van it was so much fun. It was different than most vans I have seen It had plastic cladding on around the bottom of it and it had these neat wheels on it.When the picked it up they just told me it was a Voyager ,I assumed it was the Grand Voyager so I was thrilled when it was the short one and I did not know they even made a turbo version. My Dad brought home a Voyager over nite and it was the V6 version. We loaded it up put everything on the roof and towed a small trailer all the way from Georgia to Eugene Oregon for a month to visit our family and help with the new farm. I needed a car for school and the van was fan and so easy to dial up horsepower. The biggest performance enhancement is simple large inter-cooler and premium gas. I know I had that engine up to 190 if not more. That van no joke at a red light if you floored it it would start going and around 8Mph or so the front wheels would melt. So easy to work on I used to stand in the engine bay in the van.

Found your channel recently due to our common interest in video games. Turns out I also own a 1989 Caravan Turbo. Mine's a 5 speed with the Convert-A-Bed option.

@@MCCJustMotos White but original color was Grey. With the condition of the Earl Scheib quality paint job I may go back to Grey when the time comes. Head is currently off. I blew the head gasket when doing some road tuning with the Ostrich emulator. I screwed up and overboosted the hell outta it! When I bought it years ago it was sold with "bad clutch" What it really was is near blown differential. I pulled the trans apart and put in a Quaife LSD. Best mod ever.

Strangely enough as rare as 5 speed turbo minis are the convert a bed is the rarest part of the whole van. I've never seen another in person and can only find a single document online.

I grew up with one of these, an 88, and it did have the V6, but no CD player (we had the cassette instead). We had it all through my childhood until my senior year in high school. So this brings back memories. :-)

I owned a non turbo version, forget the engine size , and it was one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. 7 years of trouble free use. Bought it for $5000 in 1992 and sold it for $3000 in 1999. Great space, comfortable ride, 25-29mpg ( I had the small 4 cylinder engine). Loved it!

@@MCCJustMotos It was a metallic dark gray with a thin double lined pin strip along its sides and rear door. It had a very light blue- grey interior. It wasn't until I actually drove it for the first time that I realised what terrific vehicle it was. Always dependable.

I have an ‘89 dodge caravan that has the same color combo! It’s got the small 4 cylinder. Not in the best of shape but that’s ok. Bought it from my pastor for $400 5 years ago. It is currently using coolant for some reason so I’m not driving it rn. I’m thinking it might be the water pump but not sure. It has a new radiator, seals, and thermostat so idk. I don’t see an obvious leak. And I don’t see any coolant in the oil so I think the head gasket is still fine. Haven’t messed with it for a couple years, and I use it for storage in the meantime.

Hey, cool you have the same combo van! Take the radiator cap off (cold) and see if it bubbles when you run it..might be a small head gasket leak..probably worth just changing too. :D
