1986 Mercury Sable LS JUNKED! This almost perfect first-year example of the Sable was given up on!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Full walkaround with running commentary of the inside and outside, along with peeks underhood as well as in the trunk of this magnificent example of the first year 1986 Mercury Sable that somehow ended up at the scrapyard. The sister model to the famed Ford Taurus is rarely seen today, especially not in this condition, and shocking to see one this good in the scrapyard. Subscribe and Like (and turn notifications ON!) to be informed of more videos, we feature all makes, years, and types of vehicles in the junkyard, way too often scrapped before their time...

I had a 1987 Sable, purchased it fresh off someone’s 3 year lease. It was one of the nicest riding and driving cars I’ve ever owned. Seemed like every other family had one of these or the Taurus back in the late 80s and early 90s. So many were sold back then it’s hard to believe they are so scarce today.

My grandparents had an 87 Sable in white. They’ve both since passed, but the car has been sitting in their garage since 2010. I’d love to get it running again. Besides needing tires, all the fluids flushed, and two rust spots, it’s in great condition.

My grandfather worked for Ford from the time he got out of the Army in WWII to his retirement in the early 80s. The last new car he bought was an 87 Sable. I remember my grandparents picking us up from a tiny airport near their small western MD town in it. After my grandfather passed, my grandmother only used it to run errands around town until she gave up driving around 07. She’s passed now too. The car hasn’t run since 09, but only 44,585mi on it. Besides a small rust spot on the rear quarter panel, the car is mint. It needs the fuel tank drained and fuel lines cleaned, new tires, and a new brake system (the reason it was parked), it would be a cool project to get back on the road since you don’t see them much anymore.

These came out in 1985 and were super futuristic for that era. My Dad owned a 1996 Taurus which I learned to drive in and got as my first car in 2003. It was a silver LX model was very nice car. He got a off lease 2001 Mercury Sable LS Premium as his new car then both cars were silver metallic with grey interiors but that Sable was loaded with every feature available for the time. Was basically a Taurus SHO! Both cars held up well. The Taurus eventually had suffered from a failing transmission. And was replaced by a 2007 Ford Ranger I got a deal on through a bank repo. Was a great truck very basic but very reliable. My Dad got later on a brand new 2010 Ford Fusion SPORT also in silver metallic off the showroom floor it's the top line model basically a SHO Jr. That car I have now in my possession and it's always been stored winters so it's in immaculate condition. Has 34000 miles and it's a rare car now. We always loved our Ford's and it's a shame they discontinued the Taurus, Thunderbird and Fusion line-ups. The last new Ford my parents leased was a 2018 Ford Escape SE also in silver and was loaded too but once that lease expired we got a 2021 Kia Sportage EX AWD now due to more bang for the buck. Still a Ford guy but this Kia honestly ain't bad for what it is and handles great in winter

My parents had a light brown 1988 Taurus wagon and a 1990 Taurus sedan in "rosewood", which would be very similar to what we call rose gold today. They had 'instaclear' de-icers which my parents said they have never had a car with since and have always missed. The de-icers worked almost instantly and cleared the entire windshield. Both of those cars were what my parents drove when I was born so I always have a soft spot for the 1st gen Taurus. I like the sables better esthetically, they looks a little more modern and premium. Sad to see a nice survivor left to rot in a junkyard. Thanks for uploading!

Literally my dream car too brother. I was lucky to have owned two 1987 Sable LS's. Both medium taupe clear coat metallic. The first one was totaled when someone hit me. The second went through three factory transmissions before I had to finally let it go. As a teenager, the first time I saw the Sable I was blown away. It looked like a spaceship from the future. An instantaneous love affair that I have to this day. The first gen Sables were a joy to drive. True European road manners including fantastic handling. My favorite car in the whole world and I had the good fortune to own TWO!

It makes me SICK whenever I see a BEAUTIFUL car like this one at a salvage yard because you KNOW that the only reason why it's there is because it was handed down by an older couple to their grandson, & the kid was too concerned about being made fun of by his so-called "friends" for driving this beautiful Sable to be appreciative for it, & wanted a hypercar/supercar instead!!!!!

This actual one? How cool is that! Thanks for watching the video. I was actually there when they placed this car on the stands and then coincidentally was also there when they hauled it off a couple of months later. It was kind of picked over at that point but still had lots of meat on the bone...There's an '89 wagon at the new Windsor yard in virtually the same condition currently (Gold over tan).

Awesome looking car I love the wood grain inside man I think that car could have been put back on the road very little effort I almost bet she would just start up and run but it's a shame what kind of cars hit the yards I would have paid a little money for if they have a nice old car to drive around in that pretty blue two-tone color that's something you don't see anymore in automotive industry I love the way they cut that back glass to me this car stands for luxury man I drive that thing all day everyday over some newer cars at this store look the same built on the same plan and format I feel like a king inside appreciate your videos.

There's one of these for sale near me in amazing condition but the transmission is fuxx0red. Too much trouble to replace, even at $250. It really sucks to see a car get scrapped because of a transmission that costs more to replace than the car is worth. Such a bummer man. Fuck

Someone shared pics on Facebook of this car. So sad. I hate that gen 1 Taurus and Sables are so damn near impossible to find today. I really want to find a red 86 Taurus LX station wagon in red and save it but all I find are 1989-1991 Taurus SHOs for sale. It should be the other way around. The SHOs should be the ones that are rare and hard to find not the regular sedans and wagons.
