Nice to see Tom Selleck QB-ing for PIT. Marino threw the sweetest-looking passes. You know how they give people honorary college degrees. Give him an honorary Super Bowl trophy.

Not uncommon in the 80s for coaches NOT to shake hands. Landry and Shula didn't shake hands in the final game of 1984.

Miami was good at identifying and utilizing players like Tony Nathan and Jim Jensen who could offer positional flexibility. They were very clever. It just hurts that this team lost to NE in the 1985 AFC Championship Game.

@@MGAF688 that's still hard to believe. The last game ever in the orange bowl. We lose to NE a team that had been 0 and 18 in the orange bowl. I can't blame the Dolphins for the loss except Marino with another playoff clunker. Shulas game plan was awefull. No excuse for that loss or the score

The Steelers played 'em much closer than in the AFC Championship Game ten months earlier. Miami wasn't able to streak up and down the field quite as easily this time around. But thankfully they still prevailed Miami survived a 3 TO deficit.

Hampton gets the winning TD. Had high hopes for him at RB, especially after the 1986 season, he had a few big games late that season. Would love to see the Dolphins-Jets Monday night game from 1986 on here with the old WIOD radio call. Miami won that game 45-3.

People say they're surprised by this game and how Pittsburgh almost won. You gotta remember, there's 11 guys on the Pittsburgh defense that have pride too. Marino had a target on his back after the 1st season for the rest of his career. Doesn't surprise me at all Pittsburgh played this well.

Malone was just brutal to watch. We hear so much how the Steelers passed on Marino, but it also passed on Boomer Esiason in 1984 and he would have been a terrific replacement for Bradshaw. Also missing is Gabe Rivera, the 323-pound defensive end picked instead of Marino. A tragedy to say the least.

Man if the Steelers would have drafted Marino Marino would have w on 4 or 5 superbowl rings then there wouldn't be no debate who the greatest quarterback ever is baseball is the only sport that hasn't changed that's why most of the records still stand if all the quarterbacks that broke Marino's records had to play under the same rules as he did Marino would still have all the records. Brady breze Rodgers are all good but don't kid your self they couldn't beat Marino' in a quarterback challenge. Marino is the most god given talented quarterback ever.

Corners were way more physical at the line of scrimmage back then. They would even shade the receivers, unlike now. Godly I miss it.

I remember watching this game.Kind of bland I remember. The Steelers surprisingly slowed the high powered Miami offense down enough to be in game whole time and almost won.The two previous meetings with Marino they had no answer for him and Steelers got blown out.

It was a crime Marino in an average team, same with John Elway, both had great long careers the difference was Denver got a great defence and solid running game in Elways final years, got Elway back to back Superbowls, poor Dan never had that team in any year he played, both Miami and Pittsburgh were at the end of their golden years by the time of this game. Miami was totally reliant on Marino, made the defences job a lot easier.

Not one of Marinos gems, but he kept slingin it and pretty unusual that his D gave him the chance to win it and I'll tell ya the fans of Marino really went to bat for him cuz he just NEVER got booed, even when hes throwing pics left and right,WE ALWAYS stood behind Marino, cuz it never seemed like the fins were out of the gm,always seemed like Dan was gonna pull it out, just ashame he didnt have that JJ D in the late 80's,early 90's,cuz that D was absolutely good enough to have helped him win a ring or 2,he just needed a good D not a great D and that was at times a top 5 unit and in 98 they lead the league in fewest pts allowed, but Marino was on his last legs just about and just wasnt goid enough to get them over the hump, but a prime Marino or even early 90's Marino would have been!!

Never quite got why David Woodley shared duty with Mark Malone having far superior skills, although those skills still needed honing. He got to start later in the season and did well. The funny thing is that rooney believed in Woodley so much, that he had a 500,000 check for Woodley to resign, which was the most ever offered at that time to a steeler! Woodley decided to simply retire as he could have cared about money and fame. He just wanted to play football in an empty stadium God bless David and RIP

I’m a Raiders Fan living in Altoona Pa. but I Can’t too think what If Steelers Drafted Marino instead of going after DT..Bradshaw had retired the Yr. B4 so Marino would’ve started from Day One.. I can’t help but believe Marino would have won a SB with the Steelers. Because they would have given him two things he never had in Miami a running game and a Defense..& People 4GET how Good L. Lipps was..& if UR Good with M. Malone throwing U the ball then UR a Great WR.. Lipps Stallworth Marino & that opens Up the Running Game.. Bradshaw Marino would’ve easily been the Best back to Back QBs in NFL history
