I love mine. I have a 84 Quantum Variant. 26 years old and pushing 300,000 miles and still going strong.

Thank you for posting this. This video is still pretty clear and informative to this day. I forgot how much a new 5-series Bimmer cost back then. My grandfather had an '83 Century identical to that, and it was one of the slowest 4-cylinders GM ever made. The Quantum really was an outstanding car, especially the 4-wheel drive Synchro wagon; ahead of its time by 20 years. Quantums were handsome, but they also looked just like the Ceuntry; I think it's reason why they never sold like the Jetta.
VW Quantum, based on european VW Passat was a very nice automobile. I remember mom drove one( as Passat Variant, in South Africa) for several months and she always say it was a quite reliable and comfortable vehicle. Looked pretty interesting for 80s. Even in the american front model.
The best car I ever owned.
The midsize Quantum’s decidedly conventional size and shape must have come as a shock to traditional Volkswagen customers used to the compact Dasher.
They're wrong. The front wheel drive models had a torsion beam rear suspension, not an independent rear suspension. Only the 4wd models had an irs. You can clearly see the torsion beam at 6:34

Yep! The Syncro had IRS.
OH MY GOD. I think that's the set from the WWF's Prime Time Wrestling in a different color.
Lol 4 wheels independent suspension? No it had the rear beam suspension
Jan Radcliff is hot.

No, in Mexico it was the Corsar. The Mk1 Jetta was called "Atlantic" in Mexico.
Un México: VW CORSAR
@TurboVW2004 If that '83 Century had the Oldsmobile 4.3L V6 diesel engine, it would be even more of a tortoise.
I have an 82 Coupe. Neat car but boy some parts are just about impossible to find. Not well supported unlike air cooled VWs. 411s and 412/ are easy to find parts for compared to a Quantum.
A huevo el corsar
Wenn ich meine Art hatte, wie ich Gas das Los von ihnen würde!
Big old POS. Mine lived for 14 years. I have socks older than that.
The best car I ever owned.
