omg, this is so cool to watch.. number 4, christer eriksson is my father and today he is 54 years old and own a company called nordic gym, and he still works out and still looks quite fit

Glad to know that! Christer Eriksson was probably only 24 years old then and was on several magazine covers, thanks to his size and marketable good looks. Don't know how tall he was then (probably 186 cm) but no one in this heavyweight line-up was shorter than 183 cm.

Berry De Mey was just phenomenal here. Listening to those commentators diss him about his tattoo and how it detracts from his physique is quite interesting when you fast forward thirty or so years.

Berry Demey was the model Bodybuilder of the late 80’s early 90’s . In my opinion if he hadn’t had tore his pectoral muscle the potential was their for the Olympia. He just had lines shape and mass at a majestic level. Great physique!!...

I think everyone in this world who were born before 1984 wish to come back to this year; not because they could watch the competition again but we are all very young back again.

Mike "no legs but I have gyno" christian didnt deserve to win this. Demey was the winner here. Again he always throws a huge tantrum when he loses so I guess the judges were afraid to place him second.

Mike had legs, they just weren't big enough for his frame. Agreed, Demey was overall better. And I met Mike once at one of my shows in Redondo Beach, GREAT guy.

@@bigd7696 Later in his career he somewhat balanced it but at the time this contest happened his legs were too deficient. To the extent he kept standing sideways on the stage. Look at this competition the full video and you will notice he continues to stand sideways and never facing the judges because he knows his legs are too small. Standing sideways made them look somewhat more propionate .

Such a weird time when Bodybuilding was actually on regular, commercial TV!!

Pretend that these commentators traveled to the future for about an hour or two and saw what today's bodybuilding physiques look like. And travel back in 1984 and have a different opinion about these bodybuilders adding more muscle and size. Old school physiques are better looking than today's monster physiques, seriously!

I knew Mike Christian from Golds gym during this time. Totally approachable bodybuilder and over all very nice guy. He had a cool Bull Terrier named Bulls Eye that he would bring to the gym.

Bodybuilders with gyno should be placed last, sadly this is still happening these times... Berry had amazingly better condition than Mike...

I like the 70s and 80s accent. People sounded so casual and care-free. Now men sound like machines, and women do upspeak...

I recoreded this on ESPN back in the '80s and watched this many many times..... 30+ years ago, I was very annoyed at Dickerson's biased toward Mike "chicken legs" Christian.......and watching this as a 50 year old man, still annoyed. DeMey had zero major weaknesses unlike Christian's skinny ass calves.... DeMey was robbed for sure.

Wish i could tell Mr. Christian you have no legs so yes you do have glaring weakness. The way you never face the crowd and always tilt to the side tells me you KNOW that you have weak legs.

Berry DeMay should have won this. Christian had no calves. DeMay had abetter overall proportion and shape. Christian's greater muscularity has incurred a pretty bad case of gyno...wouldn't be surprised if he was carrying the heaviest drug load in this lineup.

Mike Christian....... one man's playful ham is another man's arrogant douchebag. As he said, he had no weaknesses.......... other than very noticeable gyno, lagging quads, no hamstrings, and weak calves. Other than that, he was the complete package.

His quads were underdeveloped for his upper body and his calves were under developed for his quads. His gyno was the largest and most impressive since Franco Columbu.

What's everyone's problem with gyno? It's under the muscle. Its not that big of a deal. Vince Taylor had it even Ronnie Coleman won the 1998 Mr Olympia with noticable gyno. Have shit condition or a lagging body part is worse
