1982 Honda CB250N Superdream. Engine drop done (badly, but it worked without breaking anything!).

I am just starting to restore my Super dream . Great stream mate . My bike only has 10,000 miles on it and runs like a dream so no engine work required just frame and brakes etc. Keep them comeing . 👍👍

Nicely done! I must get one if those scissor lifts. Be careful with the starter motor. Ideally you want to try to hold the threaded post while undoing the nut. Sometimes there's a shallow hex at the base, which you can get a thin or ground down spanner on, or you could cut a slot in the end of the post to take a flat screwdriver and use and open ended or ring spanner on the nut. If you don't immobilise the post, then the corroded nut will just spin the post and tear out the attached electrical connections inside the motor body. Good luck!

Did my test on a 250n. Good bikes. After the test I bought a brand new Honda VF400, which to this day, is the one I most regret selling.

I think your method of engine removal was much more controlled then my bungee strap method. 😃

Don’t see how that was”badly” done. Nothing broke. Nothing dropped. You took your time and got the job done. 👍🏻

I'll be honest mate, that oil is not looking too good for the engine internals. Easier than an XJ engine to drop and you've still got all your fingers so a win there.

Cracking on, cracking on. Surely I can't be the only one who was shouting "lift the goddamn bike off the engine you tit", though. Once the engine's out, swingarm pivot back in (makes it easier to move, and you don't lose the pivot), what's left weighs (relatively) bugger all. Lift the front end, pivot around the rear wheel, and chuck it in the skip ^H^H^H get it out of the way.
