Oklahoma fumbled 7 times, lost 5 and still won the game, thanks to the heroic efforts by a banged-up J.C. Watts. He's one of my favorite Sooners of all time in one of the most memorable games of my childhood years.

Switzer kept producing RB after RB all thru the 70’s and 80’s. This is one of my all-time favorite offensive backfield. David Overstreet, Buster Rhymes, Julius Caesar Watts, Stanley Wilson was as talented as any backfield he had. JC was a RB playing QB, and Stanley Wilson was a RB playing FB. Great memories!

21:10, I truly believe David Overstreet would have helped the Miami Dolphins win a Super Bowl. Sad that he passed away in 1984.

JC went on to have a pretty good career in Ottawa ( CFL). He was exciting to watch, really good runner, but also had a more than decent arm.

OU defense only gave up 51 passing yards. That was a tenacious defense in spite of having to fend off 5 turnovers by the offense.

Why do Oklahoma keep running plays to the short side of the field ? Those will be big plays if they was to the Wide side

Even if FSU won they would've still finished #2 and UGA would've still been unanimous national champions because they were undefeated and the noles had 1 loss! So this was just a pride/bragging rights game for the noles! Still would've been nice to win and had the FSU LB not dropped that int throw right to him the final drive we should've! I was 1 year old during this game having said all that! Lol

The problems with bowl games and selection were that teams were issued invitations with 1 games left in season. Norte Dame had 1 game left vs USC. ND lost. It was too late. The BCS solved that problem. Norte Dame barely won. against Michigan by kicking a 50 yard field against the wind as time ran out. Florida State beat #3 Nebraska and Pitt which was.

U r right Florida State never beat Oklahoma n the 80's. I think Oklahoma beat Florida State when Bob Stoops was the coach. Oklahoma beat them 4 the national championship game. Then may-b a yr or 2 later Oklahoma beat them again w/Landry Jones as quarterback. So I don't think Florida State ever beat Oklahoma.

A Georgia FSU sugar bowl would've just made to much sense I guess ? Instead let's have Georgia play #7 ND an FSU Oklahoma in the orange bowl?

The Sugar Bowl selected ND before the Irish had played USC. ND got spanked by the Trojans 20-3. Meanwhile, #3 Pitt was stuck in the Gator Bowl. A different era

Pretty meaningless in the eyes of most people outside of the Oklahoma and FSU fan bases. The Sugar Bowl decided the national championship.
