    What if Barry Sanders had played for Nebraska? Nebraska was just a better more talented team than Oklahoma State.

    Broadcasts were so much more exciting. Look at that hype at the beginning. Starting to wonder if ESPN is trying to demoralize the public with the same dullness of every other channel 🤣

    I consider this the greatest Penn State game of all time, an underrated Illinois team led by Simeon Rice takes a 21-0 lead and Penn State comes back to win 35-31 with a late touchdown. The 1987 Fiesta Bowl had higher stakes but this one was even more edge-of-your-seat.

    I'm not sure why coach James went with Beno Bryant as the starting tailback that season, IMO Jay Berry would have been a better choice. Beno was a great kick returner, quick, fast, good vision, but not as strong of a runner as the much stronger Berry. If a defender even got a hand on Beno he was going down. But not Berry.

    I was at the game sitting on the 50 in the Cougar student section (I wasn't a student, so what?) and it was the greatest 2nd half in WSU history. All the Huskies had to do to get another Rose Bowl bid was to beat the lowly Cougs who had a terrible injury plagued season. Even though the Huskies owned the 1st half, the Cougs dominated the 2nd half for the upset win. Sometime in the 3rd quarter you could see the Cougs weren't going to go down easy and somehow, they pulled off an incredible upset.

    The interception before the half was the killer. 13-10 ND at the half or 10-10. Instead 17-10. Could not recover. Sucks that we didn’t have a 4 teams playoff at that time.

    I never seen a Sandusky’s defense give up so many crossing pattern passes despite tight coverage. There were passers like Jim Kelly and Dan Marino but Sandusky’s defenses forced you to go deep and sideline. Respect goes to Flutie.

    Big 10 football, 3 yards and a cloud of dust. The pac 8, 10 and 12 was a quarterback factory. So much fun .

  • @randyacuna5643
    @randyacuna56433 күн бұрын

    This is the game that showed me that the pac 8 , was more then just the usc Trojans. It was the most competitive conference in college football . The real reason it doesn't win national championships because the teams beat up on each other. It's been that way all the way till the now end of the conference. This is more exciting then the same teams winning every year. That only says that other conferences are weak. The east coast writers never say that. East coast bias.

    As a Michigan fan, this is one of those "tip your cap" games where you can't complain much. There was no way Michigan was going to win dealing with that DL, and the defense played better than I remembered against two Heisman winners. The 2007 Rose Bowl is the frustrating one. The defense almost pitched a shutout for a half, but the offense was just stretch runs and dropback passing on obvious passing downs. My least favorite Lloyd Carr gameplan (redeemed himself in his finale against Florida).

    2:02 Pryor could have ran for 10 more yards easy, but went out of bounds way before the first. 7:55 went out way too early and without force again. This was the type of decision-making that undermined his athletic talent.

  • @chrismcclendon5335
    @chrismcclendon53354 күн бұрын

    Pryor gave USC 7 off the rip. Then the officials made sure they did their part on the last drive. What intentional grounding with a WR in the area? That sapped all momentum for a game winning drive from the rip. It was a good game and hard fought. Pryor was a great athlete but his inaccuracy and decision-making were the real difference in this game.

    Honest question: bigger impact on BC football? This win or the comeback loss at home to WV a week later? Man, they had separate unbeaten teams in November on the ropes in back to back weeks, and nearly pulled off both upsets.
