Solved! My main problem was actually the CDI! The stator coils were not the problem. (Like the video says the coils making contact with fly wheel was a problem that was ruining the coils and the fly wheel slowly. So grinding down the metal ends of the coils didn't harm spark but did prevent contact with the fly wheel.) I replaced the stator coils and the primary coil trying to solve this problem. The CDI was the problem. so it would provide spark that was weak for about 15 minutes and then it would loose spark. I've heard this isn't common. Usually a cdi works or it dosen't. So a temperamental cdi supposedly isn't common. Mine seemed to work better when it was cold outside but not at all when temperatures were warmer than freezing. I ordered 3 cdi boxes from ebay and one of them worked. One was the same age as the one I had and it seemed to have the same problem as mine. The second was an aftermarket cdi and it didn't work at all. The third was off a sled that was nearly 20 years newer but used the same part number for the cdi. The third worked perfectly. Now I have strong consistent spark. I'm pretty sure the reason the cdi went bad in the first place was because I had a short in the wiring of the handle bars somewhere and so I bypassed all that wiring but didn't realize I was also by passing the Voltage regulator as well and running the sled with out a voltage regulator damaged the cdi. Now I have a newer cdi that works and wired in the voltage regulator back into the circuit so far everything is now working well again. I love this sled. So fun! The Low profile let's me drift around corners of packed down snow. 😂
