Jarvis Redwine wearing the Flak Jacket because of cracked ribs. Both Redwine and Andra Franklin had around 150 yards rushing and the Huskers still ended up losing. Franklin was a tremendous Full-Back. Such a powerhouse. Didn't have the speed though of the Nebraska fullbacks of the next few years.

I was at this game with my late brother. What a bitter pill to swallow. We got a couple of tickets from a couple of ladies students who didn’t want to watch the game. Pretty good seats.

OU guard Don Key if I remember correctly had his life saved when he was hit in the lower back and ruptured a kidney and when the doctors performed surgery they discovered he had cancer in the ruptured kidney. I remember reading that in Sooner magazine probably in 1982.

After disappointing losses to John Elway's Stanford team and Texas, the Sooners ran the table that year with a great Orange Bowl win.

...Bill Fleming on pxp & don't know who it is doing color... ...loved it when Bill Fleming had the ABC College Football "round-up" show on Sunday mornings in the 70's...sometimes it was the only time you got to see other teams from around the country... ...also love the old Memorial Stadium "Big 8" logo on the 50-yard-line...

Yes I watched the Bill Fleming College Football round up on Sunday mornings also and loved it as a kid... I've been trying to find something with that show for the longest on KZread the only thing I found was a Whole Decade of the 1970s College football with Bill Fleming

The Big 8 was HUGE! Look at all the powerhouse teams Oklahoma had to take on after the Red River Shootout: Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State and then the "Big Red Machine" of Nebraska - which often decided who would go to the Orange Bowl and National Championship!

I was four and the OU/Nebraska game was a family tradition for me in Sand Springs Oklahoma. On thanksgiving we ate and watched Dallas. The day after we watched the game while we put up OUr Christmas tree. It really pissed me off when they changed this series.

Awesome game and respect to the Land Thieves. Thought we had it after punching one and leading 17-14 with just 3:16 left. This is seriously the hardest-hitting game I've ever seen. Go Big Red!

I didn’t know Buster Rhymes played football before he started rapping 😂😂😂. Living in PA I had to watch boring assed Michigan v Ohio state since both games were on ABC the same time. Keith Jackson was doing the OSU Michigan game.

Oklahoma more then any other wishbone team was terrible with fumbles. Good thing the Big 8 wasn't very strong or they would have been in trouble with such sloppy ball handling.
