These were always great games between us and the Huskers! At least back then, we could hold teams to 7 points!!

I grew up in the 80s and have been a lifelong Sooner fan and I gotta tell ya guys I miss the Thanksgiving tradition of the Big Red Battle. It was a dad gum holiday in my household. We had thanksgiving and watched the Cowboys then the day after we watched OU/Nebraska and put up the Christmas tree. Now I hear Nebraska is trying to back out of OUr home and home?! Cowards!

Sean Dobson: Not cowards, just the administration considering trying to add an extra home game to make up revenue lost for the local businesses. Remember, Nebraska wasn't allowed any fans at all last season. Not sure how everyone just forgot about the pandemic in this situation and somehow think this is on Nebraska as a whole when it was their administration. It was a dumb idea anyhow. Nebraska could have a watch party at the stadium for the OU game, make it a gameday event. They could make up a lot of money that way.

Oh wow ! Thank you for sharing this video! This was one of my favorite sports days! I had two TVs in my room. I played dueling doubleheader’s on each TV. ABC had Ohio State- Michigan, then USC-UCLA. CBS has Penn State-Notre Dame and then this game

I love the CBS college football theme song! It's hard to believe that it's been around all these years, and I'm going to miss hearing it before SEC games in 2024. I really wish that they had maintained that contract. It'll be odd watching Big Ten games on CBS.

Painful game, especially since a lot of Nebraska players talked trash before this one. If I recall Osborne was not thrilled about it. As a spectacle it was quite the letdown; it had been hyped as a possible sequel to 1971. This was four losses in a row to OU and a lot of us were wondering if it was the 70s all over again.

Nebraska and Oklahoma need to just make this a seasonal game on Thanksgiving weekend like Oklahoma and Texas did it before the creation of the Big 12.

34:37 - Right there Nebraska should have sent on their FG unit. If good, the score would be 17-10 and Nebraska would at least have a chance for an onside kick. I've seen this too much in football, when a team down by 9-11 points with little time left, will run too much clock trying to score a TD. As soon as you are in a makeable range, you have to kick the FG to give your team a chance.

I've often wondered the same thing myself. Yes there is a chance that the kick could be blocked, have a bad snap, or a missed kick; but the percentages are on your side. At least try to make it a one score game to give your team a chance.

Tom Osborne was very proactive with the Student athletes in trying to steer them into focusing hard work in the "class room" as well as on football field. When ever a player got into some kind of trouble with the law he was there showing proper concern for all involved. Barry Switzer was way more dismissive of those kinds of events and more or less had a "Boys will be boys" attitude because winning games was the only concern he had as a coach. What really happened in the end, students who cared more about partying went Sooner and Students that cared more about education went Husker for the most part. For nearly 25 years those two team coaches indirectly butted heads on and off the field over their different approaches to coaching.
