This same model was also assembled in Costa Rica by an aero company called COPESA. We had many of those back in the day, they came in white, sand, mustard and blue! In 1978 they add more colors. They never had any center wheel caps, the side mirrors are Land Rover but I guess they are incorrect for that model, in 73 these Rovers had the mirrors mounted on the hood! Beautiful "time capsule"

The large panel gaps are a design feature. to allow flexing of the chassis in extreme off road conditions so that the panels do not buckle and bend ( Aluminium remember ) take a closer look all the gaps should be precision aligned to a wide gap. every gap will / should be exactly the same. ( not a build quality fault ) these cars are designed to do SERIOUS HARD work. and SERIOUS OFF ROADING ! designed to pull 4 tonnes on road 1 tonne off rd. but have been known to pull double that weight. The Original interiors had lift out carpets for dirty use and seats you could hose off to clean and rubber floor coverings with a sloping floor and no door lower sill to allow water to drain out fast and simply. after hosing it down . use it on the farm by day and at night cruise up to a high class restaurant for a meal in the same car that an hour ago was knee deep in animal Poo and mud . Genius design in every inch of the car. Good enough it should win a design award even today ! 47 yrs on !

Hi Paul, I own 2 and love them but "genius design every inch" is hyperbole mate, take the fuel filler cap for example - they break all the time! Overall genius design, yes I think so.

Vinyl panels were from 72 onwards. painted was early production '70 / 71' '73 / '74 models were the best early ones to have. - Power steering and cloth seats AND the high compression engine the late 70's had low compression engines. many buyers sold the newer ones and went back to an older one. at the time ! yes they were desirable then as they are now you had to know your old Rangey's. yor 78/ 9 model you have will be a low comp' engine ( slow and gutless ) 1882 saw the return of the high comp engine in 4 dr form. ( 1975 to 1980 / 81 low comp ) comp ratio is stamped on the engine block just by the exhaust manifold) ( 9: is hi, low starts with 8 i think ? look it up to get it correct.)

Its just funny that it got quiet the same history/datas like mine. Anybody knows the actual owner of that car? Kinda like to bring it back home were its belonged. Otherwise what will i do with 2 exact same cars in the garage 😁. But if someone knows its owner pls tell this Person whenever he wants to sell it. I'll be interested.
