1979 was a monumental year for Michael Jackson, as he embarked on a world tour with his brothers after the success of their 'Destiny' album. While on tour, Jackson began recording his 'Off The Wall' album, which was released in the summer and became a smash hit with rave reviews.
Michael released two no. 1 singles in 1979, his last no.1 was with 'Ben' in 1972, and his new found popularity allowed the Jacksons to ramp up their Destiny tour into an arena production, which they toured the US in till the end of the year.

Actually though ... this was his saddest point in his life. He said he was so lonely he would go out at night and ask if ppl would be his friend then got emotional talking about it.
I loved this era 1978 to 1982. He was so fine and in the best voice.

This is honestly one of the best albums transitioning to a solo career ever made and it couldn't have been done better and I heard Quincy Jones say he prefers it over Thriller.
Off the Wall😊 I remember when he came out, and of course, watched he’d the J5 since the first time I seen them on Soul Train 🚂, his music is still played around the world , and still at my house everyday! We miss you Michael! The Best Entertainer of All Time!❤️🥰☺️✌🏼

Not really. The solo album begins in 1971 for MJ. He is the first and youngest Member of the Jackson family to release a solo album other than Jackson 5. P.S. First album: Got to be there. It released on 24 January 1972, earlier than Jermaine Jackson's first album by months.
The Off The Wall era will always be my favorite 🤗
Us as fans really need to give greater respect and honor to his entire family including Joseph. They are an American Dynasty even Royalty and should be treated as such. They all did the impossible.

1979 was also dominated actually by Donna Summer who had both the number 1 song and album at the same time. She was churning out hit after hit that year on pop, disco and R&B charts.
My favorite year of Michael
Until the first false allegations in August 1993 he felt most comfortable on stage and in 2009 he was scared to death going on stage. So terrible and sad to think about it.
Can you imagine explaining to someone who never saw MJ prior to his Bad album, that this young man is the same guy?

the ending of the destiny tour really showed how he was destined to be the the greatest . he then went on to do the victory tour after becoming exactly what he was destined to be . victory is his for eternity . rip the king
