1977 Camaro Build

This was never supposed to happen.
I originally purchased this car to pull the engine and transmission for my other Camaro project. I was hoping that just maybe I might be able to pull some extra parts. However, as you can see in the video it was pretty rough. My Barletta was in much better condition, different years, and not a lot of overlap.
The car was complete though, and you could tell someone loved it. The stance was perfect. The trailer tires just popped. Sometimes that is enough. Just that spark to try and justify the crazy you are slowly resigning yourself to. Looking for any excuse to save it.
My excuse was: I will just practice shooting some paint. I could not possibly make it worse. It was supposed to be a quick turnaround. lol. But after 3 years I was still at it. I think by the end I forgot about everything that was wrong with the car and I didn't have enough sense to stop. My intent was not to make a show car, but to give this old hotrod one more life. I hope I have accomplished that.
Special thanks to Rick, Curtis and Bjorn for all your help.

    Thank you for saving her. Dad bought a white 1977 Z28 when it was brand new. 4 speed / 350. Said she was fast and fun, burned rubber in all four gears! He sold it to buy land about 1982. Today it is still in great shape and a guy 20 minutes away owns it. I got the excitement of seeing it 3 or 4 times on the road.

    Thanks for your feedback. I think if I do get another one f body, it will be a firebird. I still have one Camaro left at the house. I will be painting that one back to original color. 1980 Barletta. Maybe will be on the channel next year.

    Thanks, Enjoyed, Tried very hard to love my new Red Camaro, Bought new in 1977 and another one in 1982 new from the same dealership, Both were Total Junk right from the beginning. Still think about buying a restored one like yours from tim to time.

    oh my. Sorry your new ones were not a good experience. I am sure there are some good restorations out there that improved the factory builds. However, I have to admit I do not think mine would be in that category. lol

    I actually replaced one door from a doner car. A few items came from ebay, all the brand new parts came from National Parts Depot, which is in Ocala not too far from me.

    I replaced them with the same size that were on them previously. I really liked the stance the car had. Fronts: 225/60/15 Back: 275/60/15

    That the way I would restore a car use original motor try and do it as reasonable as possible,just a lot of work... looks good ....get a used 350 ,327 or 400 small block that all I would do different

    Yes, I kind of cut my teeth on this one. I have another Camaro in the wings with a 350 I am looking forward to. It is solid car and I plan to drive it for awhile.

  • @rustaholic9029

    @rustaholic9029

    Yep. Honestly the only reason it got rebuilt was the trailer tires. The previous owner had the stance so tough and the trailer tires just popped. I just had to keep them. lol
