Near the end of the race when Keith Jackson said the final race of the year, the American 500, taking place 'tomorrow,' that was in context when this race was telecasted, which was on ABC-TV "Wide World of Sports" on Saturday, six days after this National 500 race.
I was there. As a 10 year old I was so mad when Charlie took out my driver Pearson.
Wendell Scott came in 12th place. This was his last race before he retired. He was a great driver who also encountered allot of racism during his career

Wendell was not in this race he got hurt at Talladega earlier in the year

I see that you knew Wendell a little, was he a nice man? He is my favorite nascar driver, he seemed to me to be a good family man.

Boy, the more things change, the more they stay the same Pre-Race inspection failures, restrictor plates on tracks that aren't usually associated with the plates, weird barely explained yellows... It is kinda funny how they say "only two cars are on the same lap" like it's normal, though What even brought out the yellow there at lap 31?

@STP43FAN1 And the same race 10 years later, Richard Petty won but he was caught with a big motor and left side tires all around. And the second place finisher, Junior Johnson and his guys loaded up their car and left.
