I had one exactly like this, except it had the auto. May 7,1974 to July 29, 1975. Had to sell when I got married, and went back to college. Shoulda kept the car... :) Thanks for the memory.

I like the Jag best, but all I could afford was the Mustang Mach 1 in the background. Just married and age 28. E type IS the most beautiful car ever made except for the ugly solid top one with the big fat windows.

The worst thing about all Jaguars is, they have no exotic engine sound!

Just Wrong exhaust. Jag. V-12 can sound just like a Ferrari. Americans do Not know about proper exhaust.

I have owned 2 sixes, and 2 twelves, and I can say, you no almost nothing about this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They are all pretty much worthless for transportation, unless you have a rollback following you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I did enjoy my first E Type 6, I drove it to school illegally at 15 years old!!!At least I could make it there without overheating!! The 12 was totally unacceptable as means of reliable transportation. I agree totally with the movie Gumball Rally as it’s a beautiful design when it runs. This car also doesn’t sound right. Could be minor. I have owned enough sixes and twelves to know exactly how each sound when running ok. The engines were not really bad, but it’s the rest of the car that’s a total disaster.

I also own a Series 1 3.8 and Series III V12. Both are and can be very reliable if maintained properly/regularly by trained Jag technicians or if the owner is mechanically skilled. Both cars are of course significantly different in complexity and I find that the early Series 1's are well engineered, making repairs and maintenance not too difficult. Anyone that actually owns a Jaguar V12 whether it be an E type or XJS, knows or should know how to maintain the cooling system regularly...and not just topping it up every few years. If you're overheating, you're skimping on maintenance and setting yourself up for problems. If it's unreliable, you probably bought a poorly maintained car or couldn't afford it in the first place.
