1971 Plymouth Road Runner "Gold Leaf Poly" Diecast review (1/18 scale) by Auto World

From 1965 to 1974 I think the most kick-ass American muscle rides were made. The Road runner is iconic not only because of it being a stripped down version of the GTX, nor because of it's tie-in with the cartoon, but because of its price/performance ratio. Although I had reviewed a 1971 GTX and a couple other road runners, this is the first '71 in my collection and almost did not buy it because, again, it's basically a GTX which I have.
Plymouth designs, especially their front fascias, have always fascinated me and I have to say that this style is NOT my favorite of the Road Runners.

The color is very nice looking. Can't wait for my next brown or gold Mopar!!
Personally, I love the 71's both Plymouth and Dodge. I was 10 back then and around the corner from me lived an In-Violet over white 440+6 71 GTX. That thing was gorgeous. Across the street was a red 71 Charger R/T. Also beautiful. So I am somewhat biased towards that body style. That mold is showing it's age. I was hoping they would have have re-done these to the same level as the Authentics 71 Chargers but that probably won't be happening.

Uffff. I do like 71 Chargers, but the change of style of the GTX/RR is too "marked" for me. And yeah, I don't think Auto World is going to spend money on new molds 😟😫 (unless we are talking 1/64 ... seems those generate more $$ for them)
