My first car at 17 was a 1973 Charger. It was a lot of fun. I’ve got “hot rod” in my blood, like most of us here I suppose! ; )

NICE!!! This video is kinda killin' me. Of ALL the Chargers I've seen on line THIS ONE is the closest thing to what I once had. Mine was black with the half vinyl top just like this one. I had the same "Go Wing" factory spoiler. My power bulge hood had a slightly different matte black fiberglass insert (mine was a Super Bee Charger hood) I didn't have the hidden headlights like this one, My headlight set up was the factory '71 style. I did not have a HEMI motor, but a 440 - 6 pack. God I miss that car! I still have recurring dreams about that car! I was sitting in traffic one fine, fall, New England afternoon, about a month before I put her in storage for the winter, when some lady PLOWED into my rear!! She was in a Volvo station wagon, doing about 40 mph and never even touched her brakes!! She just flew right up my ass! I sustained a serious back injury and the car was wrecked but fixable. I kept it for a few years with plans to fix her up, but life got in the way and that never happened. That accident was on September 7th 1987 and it is a day that, for ME, will live in infamy!

Okay wait...a lot of people are complaining about the 612 motor or 616 motor. You gotta remember theyre not in the US. I doubt they would use cubic inches. There has to be some kind of conversion confusion going on here. Theres no way thats a 612 (or 616) cubic inch motor. It just isnt. All of us have seen 400 cubic inch motors with more sound and spunk than what this car has. Im not saying hes lying im just saying there has to be an explanation for the engine name other than cubic inches

The 1971 Chargers had 383 cubic inch v8's or 440 v8's for the most part. It COULD have a stroked build, and depending on the base engine they used, it could be anything from a 452, to a 498, to a 512 or 528 or 538 depending on the crankshaft and bore used. Never heard of a 612 or 616. But I see foreign license plates on it so it's hard to say what it may be at this point. Typically, once they get stroked to monster cubic inches,, they get better compression height pistons, and you can just hear the urgency of how a higher compression and better cammed engine sounds, compared to the relatively stock sound of this car. So, it's likely just a 383 or 440 with relatively stock attitude. Which was plenty to cause law enforcement to pay attention to how it was being driven.....

Obviously you don't know Chargers. The '71 had flush side markers like this one. A '72 would have raised side markers. '73 would have a totally different quarter window and hide away headlights were no longer available. The quarter window would be larger and could have been louvered depending on the model in '73 and '74. Just Google images of a '71 Charger and then compare them to images of a '72 and '73 and you can clearly see the differences. Sorry dude, this is definitely a '71.
