Congrats on the baby Cap, but also I really actually quite liked the backseat recording perspective, its really cool to see you be able to focus on things around you that are going on like other F4's or cockpit tools all the while not having to worry about keeping the thing flying, especially so given how incredible this model of the F4 from heatblur is.

I also worked chaff / flares / photo flash / & film on the RF-4C's a RAF Alconbury early 80's. We were getting upgraded to the smokeless engines.

That was really a LOT of fun to watch, very involving. I think having Cap in the back seat made it a lot easier to identify as a viewer along for the ride. The new F-4E has a lot of potential, both mission and entertainment, so I am looking forward to a lot more Phantom adventures

i really thought I would miss the accent but you nailed it LOL, thank you all for stepping in to keep GR up and running for CAP and the community. I'm still learning DCS and I love GR video format and scenarios.

Really professionally narrated. Get well soon CAP. these videos basically keep me alive. (I have a really slow job TBH). I've made some auto routines for Voice Attack for DCS. I might share these sometime? I only Sim / Fly in DCS in VR. What an amazing piece of work , great job by ED.

Absolutely thrilling... and terrifying.

Those 21 AIs seriously overpreform. Not that noticeable if you're in an F16 but when you're in F4, F5s etc. It's super obvious.

all AI planes in DCS use simplified flight models that make them over-perform. Just a thing.

@grimreapers but Mig21 and MiG15 were unaffected by the BFM update that came a few years ago. And so overpreform to the extreme. Its easier to dogfight a MiG29 than a MIG21. As the MiG29 now tries to fly like a MiG29 even if it overpreforms. But the 21 and 15 have no such limitations put on them. And so still flies like they did before the BFM update.

Nice to hear you cap. Hope you get better soon 😁 Now that you can finally play with the F4E I Would love to see a mission that involves Greek and Turkish Phantoms. Those two have been using the certain type from the 70s until now (yes they both still fly them!!!) and almost every day there are engagements between "blue" and "red" F4s over the Agean Sea.

Cap pulled the old switcharoo on us.

Yeh this one was a bit of a hodgepodge to make.

You need a proper RF-4C for this mission. Imagine flying into N. Vietnam, at altitude, unarmed and having to hit a specific spot. I only talked to a few of the Vietnam era pilots. Almost all of ours were young Captains.

I think the whole recce thing should be more thing in DCS. Enigma's ECW server is using some scripts. I wish recce would be more integrated into DCS gameplay. And we would have proper recce equipment / aircraft. E.g. the Jaguar or RF-104 would be nice. Make photos, and DCS AI would analyze the photos and mark targets. Attackers would have to find the targets based on kneeboard maps...

Why do I still think the Mig 21 is a sexy beast?

Futuristic, Hypersonic, and Stealth battle!🙏 The Boy's and Yourself are in F/A-XX's starting airborn with AIM-260's and AI HAVE GLASS F-16 Loyal Wingman! They are representing smaller aircraft and maintain low observable by either having 4 Peregrine's plus 2 AIM-9X or 2 AIM-120D's plus 2 AIM-9X! Ford Class Carrier with few F/A-XX's with AIM-260's however mostly F-35's with Mako's! LHD carrying F-35's with AIM-260's! 2 Arleigh Burke's, 2 Ticonderoga's, and 1 Constellation Class! 2 SR-72's with AGM-183's! 3 B-21's with JASSM-ER's! Opposition! off the coast 2 Type 055's, on the coast DF-26's, protecting them and an Airbase near the coast HQ-9, S-350, and S-400! The Airbase has SU-57's with R-77M's, SU-35's with couple R-37M's and R-77M's, and MIG-31's some with R-37M's and some with Kinzhal's! Inside/further protection for Airbase, Iglas, Tunguska's, and Pantsir's! To the south away from the action Carrier with J-35's with PL-15's and 1 Type 055 for protection! Finally further inland away from the action small Airfield with J-20's with PL-15's and few J-15's with PL-17's! Mission-- as stated The Boy's and Yourself are responsible for air superiority with immediate help from the F-35's on the LHD, however Ford Carrier will launch F-35's with Mako first then the few F/A-XX's will launch as last support/clean up! The Mako F-35's are tasked with taking out ALL air defenses! Before that The 2 SR-72's are tasked with hitting the 2 Type 055's off the coast! B-21's are tasked with taking out all DF-ZF's! Optional last strike, Tomahawks from the Ships (if any survive;) smash Airfield!👍

She may fly like a brick but she's still an awesome looking aircraft.

Yo Cap Please try the satellite shootdown again, however with-- MIG-31 with R-37M, ST-21 with AIM-152, SU-35 with R-77M, J-20 with PL-15, J-15 with PL-17, F-22 with AIM-260, F/A-XX with AIM-260, and the following with either AIM-260 or SM-6, F-15EX, YF-12A, and SR-72! You could even spice it up more with* AIM-4 Falcon and Genie Rocket!🙏👍

I would love to see someone develop a couple skins for the Phantom: Blue Angels, Jungle Tiger Stripe camo, Desert Tiger Stripe camo

I remember reading something about there being a way of dealing with the smoke. I don't know the exact details but you basically run afterburner on one engine, partial thrust on another, and then trim it out. That would take care of most if not all of the smoke while keeping fuel consumption somewhat reasonable.

First stage of burner to suppress smoke when entering enemy territory is documented in a number of first-hand accounts from Phantom pilots of the era. Pick up a copy of "Phantom Over Vietnam" by John Trotti if you haven't read it.

While it's not optimal, jets of this era will run pretty well on diesel - which is after all, basically the same underlying base fuel as jet fuel (kerosene). The J-79 was tested on it and it's a lot better than empty tanks. You start to run into some reductions in flight envelope e.g. engine restart capability at higher flight levels. But you can absolutely take off and roar around the sky on diesel with a Phantom in a military emergency if it's all you have available
