Momma got this recipe and we had it every Thanksgiving and she has passed onto Heaven so one of us do this dish now.
This was in the table every Easter. Thanks for the memories
What a coincidence! I was just thinking how i missed my grandmoms watergate salad now i can make it 😋😍 sweet memories ❤
We put a little coconut in it too. It looks delicious! Thank you. Will make this while camping.
Love Watergate!! I don’t add pecans or sour cream. Just 4 ingredients; pistachio pudding, crushed pineapple with juice, mini marshmallows and cool whip. I make a day ahead so all the flavors seep into the marshmallows. So dang good!!

I was not taught to put cherries in the salad. I do however use bunny marshmallows at Easter and the Christmas trees at Christmas.
Excited! I actually made it in time. My grandmother made this "salad" when I was a kid. It was dessert to me.
That bowl is perfect!!
I made this for our monthly church lunch last spring. Lots of people thanked me and said they had not had this in so many years and it brought back memories for them. Made me happy to hear that. Every last bit was eaten!

Hi Nancy...if you can't find the pistachio pudding in grocery stores, believe it or not, I've found it recently in Dollar Tree Doesn't hurt to check it out, especially @ $1.25. Happy Spring!
I love, love, love Watergate salads! I’ve eaten them my entire lifetime! My mama was crazy about them! It actually might be my favorite dessert! Yummy 😋
Very Very Good. I love it❤ I made it at St. Patrick’s Day and other holidays in the past…
I've made this for years my Momma loved it so did my family , never used marshmallows, but my secret ingredient was always fruit cocktail. ❤
Thank you for the demonstration of making the Watergate salad. I’ll be making it for my women’s group tomorrow. Thank you again God bless.❤
I love Watergate salad. I love your Fenton bowl . I have a piece it's a a borealis color shoe. I've been to the Fenton glass Factory it's not too far from Mullica Hill, it was fun to see how they make it and all the beautiful pieces, have a blessed day.❤😊
This is truly my favorite 😍
I love Watergate salad. I usually fix it at Christmas
Such grand memories with my grandma. She made lots of jello salads. Everyone of them were delicious. Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Thanks for giving the pointers about toasting the pecans.
I will be making this Watergate Salad. Thanks Tammy.
I LOVE your Fenton bowl, Tammy! So fancy!
Hello from Mocksville, North Carolina!❤ This is one of those refreshing, delicious salads 😋😋😋 Love you Tammy,❤
I absolutely love this salad !!!! My sister- in -law used to make it at Christmas time and after the dinner, I’d take a big bowl of it home and that was my supper
We are allergic to soy so we just whip up 4oz of heavy whipping cream for ours instead of the cool whip. :) The pudding takes care of it, I've not had to use any stabilizers in it. Of course it never lasts long enough!
FINALLY! Someone else does sour cream, too! Everyone thought I was odd!
We used to make this when I was a kid. We also used to make a watergate cake which I loved!
I have never heard it called Watergate salad but in have had this before. I love this salad.
This is a good salad!!
Hey y'all ❤️ love this salad
This looks smashingly good!! Very pretty for a dessert table.
I think I will bring this dish for Easter. Looks easy enough and very nostalgic 🍒
I love this stuff and havent made this in ages, but i will be making it soon! Ty Tammy for sharing! Love you!❤️
Oh my this is my favorite haven't had it in a long time ❤
Great hint about the pecan meal. I wouldn’t have thought of it that way. Thank you. Love your channel.
Thank you. Have a great weekend ❤
Hi Tammy. Your recipe is so pretty for an Easter dessert!
This is my favorite! Thanks so much for the recipe.
Oh my gosh looks absolutely delicious!! Beautiful salad!! Can’t wait to make this salad!!
I had never even heard of Watergate salad until yesterday. My aunt dines at the Watergate sometimes as she has worked in D.C. for decades. I'd bet she has tried it. I attended an Orange County party where nearly everyone had known the Nixons. Their great grandchildren pointed out to me how they served Shasta soda. I figured that was how they stayed old money. That's a lot of marshmallows!
❤Love This So Much
I like it a lot. I make it quite often for church meals. Everyone loves it!
Yum. OK, I'm waiting on the ambrosia salad next. 😊
You can toast the pecans before you chop them up.
That’s my daughters favorite!
I make this every Easter holiday. Thanks for sharing your recipes Tammy. 🙂❤️
I made Watergate salad to take to a St. Patrick's Day party, and it was the first time I had ever made it. Then I made it again for my family at Easter but I came across your recipe. The addition of a bit of salt and the sour cream made it so much better!!
One of my favorites never thought of adding sour cream but will definitely be adding it to mine! Thanks ❤
You are so right--this salad recipe was wildly popular during my growing up years. My mama made it A LOT!!! I love it. Hadn’t thought of it in years, so thanks for the reminder….😉😋
I made this forever in South Carolina and my Southern family loves it. I made it up North for a party everyone kept asking what it was and never touched it …. That disappointed me because I know it is so good. Just sweet … they missed a very nice dessert 😊

Well, this Maine gal and her whole family love it,! We do however, find that some families call similar dishes by other names, or make it with different fruit, or jello flavors.
That is a beautiful dish! Your salad looks delicious!😊😍
Oh my what a delicious super delicious treat ! 👍💕☺️
Hello Tammy, YOU know I love watching you cook especially dishes you don't have to measure Thanks Tammy for reminding me of the "Good Ole Days"!
What a treasure this video is!
Hi Tammy! Watergate Salad has been a fave in my family for years, too. My crew has enjoyed it at family gatherings as well. My mother always toasted the pecans before chopping them. She always seemed to know just how much to toast without measuring and then would use the smaller pieces and any of the toasted "pecan meal" to sprinkle over the top of the salad as a garnish along with extra cherries as you did in this video. Thanks for the demo of your Watergate Salad recipe and for another video, y'all! ! 😊
I'm going to be thinking about this all evening. I wish I was your neighbor! ☺️
This 1970's Watergate Salad recipe looks so delicious 😋Ms. Tammy.
I’ve never added sour cream or the cherries but I will definitely try that next time I make it… I love this salad. So simple and soooooo delicious!!!❤❤❤
I would love to be your neighbor! So sweet you always share with them!
Love Watergate salad. ❤️
This is my FAVORITE dessert ❤❤
Looks delicious. Simple to make. I've made something similar. Blessings
I can tell that you put a lot of love into your cooking ❤👌 Have a nice day🌹🌹🌹
Oh yum! Will make this!😊
I love ❤️ this. Refreshing ❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love this
My mom got the recipe and made it for us in the 1970s. I thought anything with pistachio pudding was going to be odd and off putting but I liked it!
Love it!! Thank you!!
Toast the pecans before chopping them, maybe? Love your serving bowl
I plan on making this for Thanksgiving, a lady brought this to a Christmas party along with sweet potato casserole they were both delicious l told her she have to make that all the time.. she retired last year oh how l miss her broccoli salad, watergate and sweet potato casserole and cakes…but l loved the watergate so rich tasting light and fluffy….
Tammy, girl, I have eaten my weight in Watergate Salad. I love it and it is so easy to make. I have never used Sour Cream though, just cool whip....Thank you for the tip I'm gonna try my next one your way....God Bless you and Chris...
My daughter lovvves this!
LOVE Watergate salad.
The best way to stabalize whipped cream is after you whip the cream, add a box of dry vanilla pudding mix, continue whipping the cream until the desired consistency. You can use any flavor pudding, as long as it is in dry powder foram.
Love your hair!! Such a pretty color, cut n curl. You are a beautiful lady. Many Blessings to you and your family. 🤗
This is ambrosia salad in canada; watergate has pineapple and nuts and maybe celery. Different strokes!
My favorite
Tammy my mother makes a Watergate Cake. I think the name came from the Nixon years. (Cake has alot of nuts).
Looks very good and I know it is
I grew up using cream for whipping cream!!! I recipes like this I Always use cool whip!!! Whipping cream will separate!!! I have never heard of Watergate salad, but it looks Great!!! God Bless!!!
I’m definitely making this! Too I toast my nuts in a skillet less likely to scouring.
Made a watergate cake for Christmas, dont forget to get 2 packages of pistacio pudding, 1 for the cake and 1 for the whipped topping frosting, used dream whip instead of regular frozen whipped topping, good way to use up tail ends of nut and coconut.
I plan on making that this Easter and I'll see what my grandchildren think of it. I always toast my pecan halves first, then I put them in the chopper, I love your idea of that little bit of sour cream in there. I can't wait to try it. Thank you Tammy! Love you!❤😊
Looks delicious! Your channel is an inspiration! I want to be as good at my KZread as you are. Thank you for sharing!
This is delicious Happy Friday
Greetings from 🇺🇸 Ft Bragg. NC 🇺🇸 area. Being from middle Tennessee, I thought my grandmother was the only one that made this and called it Watergate Salad! Ive seen other versions but never anyone who made it like my grandmother did and I do. I dont use sour cream though; only difference. I still serve it in the colorful bowl set she used.
An old but very good choice when you need a little something special something else for your table. We love it! We could count on my sister who hated cooking, to bring this one! Lol love you Becky!! Thanks for reminding me about this one!
HAPPY FRIDAY❤
i don't put cherries in mine bc i think it ruins the looks of my salad. i make this quite often and love the original recipe. To each his own though.
This Sunday for sure
My oldest daughter makes it for family get togethers. My youngest daughter and I are not that fond of it. A different pudding abd we would like it better. Grandma Sue in central Indiana
mmm lov it
My mother and mother in law always put fresh shredded coconut in too
You make everything so pretty!
I made it today, just the way you did, I was a little sketchy about the sour cream but I put it in anyway, absolutely delicious! My husband loved it also, he said he didn’t think he would like it, but was surprised how good it was!

Wonderful!
I love it but I don’t remember ever fixing it! I I intend to now!!!
Well you might be having some recipes like my grandma but not my mom. Her most famous thing was Chef Boyardee spaghetti in a box LOL
My sister in law made this but used cottage cheese instead of marshmallows oh my it is so so good
They have vegan whipped topping like cool whip, im not sure if it’s healthier but people who hate cool whip find that better
I've been making something similar to that for year's. Minus the sour cream and cherries and marshmallows. I use either strawberry jello or pistachio 😊. I just called it fluff depending on what flavor jello I used. Thank you for sharing Tammy and now I'm gonna try your recipe 😋
Its scandalously good!
