1970 Oldsmobile Toronado GT
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Meet Rose, a 455 powered '70 Olds Toronado GT hits the streets of Dallas, Texas. I visit Texas Classic Cars of Dallas and get to check out their 1970 Oldsmobile Toronado GT. This is one sweet classic American cruiser, a gentlemans GT Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) muscle car filmed by Samspace81 in HD

Good looking car with an awesome sound and loads of toys! You americans were waaaaay ahead of us brits when it came to vehicles! We still had crash gearboxes and starting handles when you had air con and cruise control!!

Yes! I love all of the front ends on the Toronado, and the 1970 is my favorite.

It is so cool
Love how on every Toronado video, ever, no matter what year the car is, there’s always at least one comment that is shocked it’s a Front-Wheel-Drive car. THEY’RE TORONADOS PEOPLE!!! THAT’S WHAT THEY’RE FAMOUS FOR!

Glad the video could stir up some happy thoughts. I appreciate you commenting as well
'68 -'70 Toro GT's had the same motor as the '68 Hurst Cutlass & '70 W33 Delta, but included an additional 10hp in those 3 years for the Toronado.
My neighbors had a '70 Toro with bucket seats and a console transmission selector. It was way cool. Wish I could have driven it.

I'm glad they kept most of the Toro's features like the coffee-can speedo, but they should have kept the retractable headlights. Still, a great looker!

I have bought one of them but i didn’t saw the Toronado like this i saw only new version that’s about 1983 year
nice honest car. It sure needs the caps and trim rings on the wheels to make it sparkle. In my opinion the 1970 was the next best looking Toro after the 1966. The GT was a rare option.

Thanks for sharing that. Awesome
I thought I heard a misfire towards the end. I have always loved the GT's.
I had that same car in gold back in the day. Brought it up to 135 mph and could have still gone faster but ran out of highway. The only problem with the car was that the water pump would give out every 30,000 miles and only got about 6 mpg
W-34 455.....400 HP.

i love it
I owned this vehicle in from 1971 to 1977. It was a total money pit! The Oldsmobile Toronado was a maintenance nightmare which many of you may not be aware of. The automobile suffered from terrible engine overheating issues - you name it - it broke! The vehicle's transmission was not reliable, often required rebuild and repaired FWD transmissions. In general, GM didn't know how to solve these problems or didn't care for a big block FWD automobile. It was a watered down version of the Cadillac El Dorado - a much better vehicle compared to the Olds Toronado in its' day. Just saying- I'd recommend avoiding collecting this disaster unless you just like to collect Oldsmobiles.

someone has to get the problem children, too bad it was you with this car. Eventually they must have gotten the bugs worked out as GM used this powertrain for their motorhomes - with the 455 engine.

Michael, my folks owned a 1968 beige Toronado that we bought used in 1970. I think it ran hot, but there were none of the problems you describe. Unfortunately, between me and my brother, as teenagers, we turned the car into a battering ram LOL. My mother even backed it out of the garage with the door closed. It was an extremely powerful vehicle!
Awesome! In-line engine and front wheel drive! Is the gearbox to the side of the engine like the Cadillac? Unique car!
Came for the car, stayed for the gongs!

An underappreciated classic Olds for sure. Thanks for commenting
never understood why you couldn't get real leather seats on these cars until 1974. only Cadillac and the corvette and the 98 convertible offered real leather up till then as a factory option. I know what I speak of because my family only ordered G. M. cards back then.
