On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 9-17-19.
We're looking at a 1969 Oldsmobile Olds 442 W30 Convertible in Saffron Yellow Paint. The car comes with the factory V8 engine with a 4 speed manual transmission.
The car's Owner is Ken Nagel. Ken’s had this car since 2010. Mario & Jay are sharing details of the car in Ken’s absence and this car looks “showroom” new. The car features all the right options checked for a muscle car with the big motor, convertible, and 4 speed manual transmission.
If you'd like to see this car on Ken's website here is the link kennagelclassiccars.com/1969-...
ENJOY!

Incorrect. 442 means 400 cubic inches, 4 barrel, dual exhaust ✌
@SurfTrip00
4 жыл бұрын
It’s initial offering in 1964 meant “Four Barrel, Four Speed, Dual Exhaust”. Engine displacement had nothing to do with it.
You're a ray of sunshine with your videos during this dark time period. Thanks Bruce 👍

Hi Lou, My apologies just been preoccupied with other stuff, let's not mention it. Long stressful day at work, just got home, the sun is shining, I am having a coffee whilst my cat curls up besides me, you wouldn't be dead for quids. Oldsmobile my favorite GM, I keep going back to that W31 that sinister black 1968 W31 you profiled 3 months ago, I just love love love it, just awesome. Anything 442 either W30 or W31 you have hook line & sinker. Out of all the shows I have gone too here in Australia I am so desperately waiting to see my first 442 W30 or W31 & still nothing. Lucky I have got you to fill the void. Another great video, A1 all class Thank you really enjoyed it this video. Your number 1 Fan in Australia Louis Kats from Melbourne Australia ☺ 👍

Lou! I apologize sincerely to you and your followers! I learned that some of these cars came with #336 cowl tags, so the VIN#344 is the identification. My 1969 442 convertible was one that got the #344 cowl tag. Thus my Uneducated Mistake! Great 442 W-30 and Great Video! Sorry again.

Nice car. In high school I had a '72 Cutlass Supreme that was this color. I never grew tired of that color. It was bright enough to stand out anywhere it was parked, but unlike red, it also has a neutral look to it. The banana nickname my friends gave it got old though.

Lou - I gotta be honest. I hate this car. Only because I don't own it! I'm going to sulk in the corner now. But before I do - WOW! She's a beauty !!!! My brother used to have this car! Okay - not actually THIS car but a 1969 Olds 442, blue - back in the 70s.

The 442 is my favorite GM Muscle Car..
W-30 Decals are from the late 70s. Starting in 70 the W-30 was chrome emblem under the 442 on fender?
@loucostabile
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, This one is exactly how a W-30 came from the Factory, Lou
Beautimous Lou! Yeah buddy, I love that sound, popping popcorn! lol! You know that rascal was a little more ponies than the factory rated 360 hp.., heck, most of the older muscle cars back in the day had more ponies than their factory rate, those ratings were just something the car makers had to come up with to put down on paper. Oh they may have been close to what they rated but cars like this one here were probably closer to 400 horses, if not actually! Anyways, good good one buddy!

The Outside Air Induction fiberglass hood for the Oldsmobiles came out in 1970 ( used from 70-72). 68 and 69 Olds W-30 and W31 had the under the bumper front air scoops like this car.
@Freedomquest08
4 жыл бұрын
1970-'72 were the years that had the fiberglass ram air hoods (W-25 option) instead of the other styles of air ducts used on 69 and prior 442's. The '69 Hurst Olds had a fiberglass hood scoop. (I'm not an expert-lol)
AND a W30 no less!!

The ultimate 442...
You are missing key important parts, you did not talk about the 4spd shifter or barely showed it and the rear bumper cut outs for the exhaust trumpets. And no mention of the front air intakes built in the bottom of the bumper. Next time be in the back when it starts so we can hear it fire up.

brand new car with pitting in the chrome?LOL i see a few incorrect items on this car. i don't know why the data plate was painted black. there is no such thing as a Cutlass 442.442 was it's own model in 1969. a '69 w-30 ragtop sold recently at Mecum for $150k,but it was much nicer than this one.
