1967 VW Beetle - FULL RESTORATION - How BAD is it??
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Taylor and Ben pick up a pretty original '67 Beetle from a customer looking to have it completely restored. How bad is it? What will it take to get it back on the road?

Did he?! I wanted him to zoom in on it! 😂 - Ben
Learning a lot. And I'm not usually a very attentive student with car issues that go beyond driving and putting the gas in. You guys make it entertaining and Taylor's knowledge base and diagnostic skills are amazing. Sorry Ben. You're strong with the great comments, though the funniest line (my opinion) in this one was Taylors and was something along the lines of "might as well be British." Again, apologies to Ben.
Unload was scary lol. One of my favorite channels, very entertaining. Like a KZread Gas Monkey Garage, without the money lol

Genuinely lol’d, thank you 😂
I never realized the amount of one year items on a 67 bug. I have never had one, but now I am kind of thinking it would be cool to get one........NO it wouldn't be!!!!!!! Thanks for the video!!

I might as well be British ! HAA. Too funny.
Gotta love a 67..but then I am biased 😂👍🏴
1968 = 1500 same deck lid and I believe same transaxle. I owned both years.
Like Ben I really like this one even the sound of it,but I don't know why!
The is a vid on Jason's Chanel of him welding this floor in I think.
1998 MB C230? Holla if you’re interested. It’s been sitting for 9 years. 🙁
I've never understood the hype around 1 year only bugs. Just seems like more hassle to me. Looks like a typical bug, all the rust in all the usual places..and bad patches too.

I agree! I was so resistant to getting a Bug partly because I’ve never heard ‘one year only’ so much in my entire life 😂 Seems like a complete pain in the backside to me - Ben
Ya that needs a bit of metal work.
The hinge pins most likely are worn and may need to be replaced. My first car was a 67 VW Beetle.
Maybe the holes in the floor were for ventilation? At least that is what I told myself when I had some in the TR6. HA!

My second car was a Beetle I bought in the student union at my college for $50.00; it had a "Yield" sign for the driver's side floorboard, and it was easier to replace the wiring harness(and ground all the lights and accessories) than to make sense of the rat's nest of wires near the back of the speedo cluster. It had a gasoline motor under the front lid(for a heater; the car was originally from Canada) and when I got gas, other drivers would ask me what it was, and I would tell them it was the engine.
I remember that bug from Jason channel. Are you going to sell stickers also, down the road?

Yes! Need to get some more printed soon. Handed them out like Candy last year 😂
Nice content guys! Am I mistaken, or is that a regular anti-roll bar on the rear suspension? Won't that actually be dangerous on a swing-axle beetle? When cornering, the swing-axle design will make the outer wheel want to jack up the car. If you overdo it, the wheel will even 'tuck under', lifting the entire rear and narrowing the track. Body roll actually helps to prevent that. As i understand it, improving the handling of a swing-axle car requires a Z-bar, which does the opposite of a regular anti-roll bar. A while ago I discovered that my dad's (European) '67 beetle actually has a rear Z-bar fitted from factory (although it is designed with a lot of play, so it doesn't interfere much with the suspension during normal driving).

Yes, I believe you are correct. It’s definitely going away. It was unnecessary with the vehicles ride height and the custom is keeping it low.
First! I’ll get to work in about 20 minutes 😂

swiss cheese but it is fixable. For $$$$......I hope they are willing to invest a bit of money.
There's a serious amount of boggy on that. Interesting with your 67's having alot of one year only stuff, our were pretty the same 62 - 67
