1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 POV experience

Ever wondered what it is like to walk out to your Lamborghini Miura, fire it up, and go for a spin? Here is a POV (point-of-view) video of me and my son taking our 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 for a little ride. There is an accompanying video from this day, featuring the lovely exhaust sounds of the Bizzarrini V12 at 7000 rpm.

    This is the ex-Paul Hoey P400, a truly superb restoration by an artist who put his heart and soul into the car. I met Paul and his wife when he won 1st at Concorso Italiano. Congratulations to the current owner. I could go into detail on the amazing metal work he did... but just looking at the bonnet gaps tells you enough. No Miura rolled off the line quite that perfect.

    Correct. Thank you, Paul certainly did an astounding job on it. Hard to believe he did the work twenty years ago, and it is still this close to Perfect. Since I’ve owned it, I have fixed a few details, and uncovered much about its original history.

    @@randomdude9269 you are correct on the P400 part, but he is quite accurate on the pricing of P400 these days. This car is also an exceptional version of a P400, as it has quite an interesting history and unbelievable restoration effort. Many people these days feel that the P400 versions are actually QUITE desirable, as they were the original, clean-sheet design from Gandini. The first 125 cars or so are also actually the fastest, because they were the lightest Miuras.

    Probably the worst engine design in automotive history. Only a builder of tractors would combine the same lubricant together with the engine and transaxle. The engines in those days generally used 30 wt, and transaxle used 90 wt gear oil. What an engineering nightmare. Lamborghini used this in the P400 and P400S, and separated the two with the introduction of the P400SV only. If looking to purchase, only go with the P400SV.

  • @DakotaGT

    @DakotaGT

    Actually, virtually all of these engines have been rebuilt at this point, and most people have gone with the split-sump design of the SV engines during the rebuild. It isn't too difficult to do. Mine has that upgrade. In general, I MUCH prefer the earlier P400 (which is by far the lightest of the three iterations), and the S. Many people don't care as much for the "muscle car" look that the later SV evolved into, with the wider rear tires, not to mention the loss of the iconic headlight "eyelashes". These are sports cars, not muscle cars. But I digress...
