Wow that is different I painted my corners off on panel stands and jamed the fender areas before installing fenders then painted them bolted and aligned.
@JoDaddysGarage
6 жыл бұрын
This way you get paint and clear between the panels. Less risk of adhesion if you need to remove them later. It also helps the color flow. I can look at a car that's painted with panels laying differently than how they would be mounted, and I can see the difference in the paint.
@Mikefngarage
6 жыл бұрын
definitely looks nice. I like the fenders bolted on because aligning them after paint can cause scratches. Plus the bolts are painted unless your going chrome or stainless. never have a problem with my metallic looking the same or flowing nice on a panel stand upright as they are on the car sprayed at the same time. Only time I would do something like that if I were doing candy apple or something like that. Your paint looks really nice though.
@JoDaddysGarage
6 жыл бұрын
True. I don't paint the bolts though. I believe the factory painted everything apart, and the bolts would be black. I do understand where you're coming from. At the body shop, we would paint all the collision stuff assembled. It' does make it easier overall.

Car looks amazing and the colour is awesome am surprised you didn't paint the doors and wings off the car to make it easier for you to paint. I can appreciate you keeping them on so you dont have any variations with the colour match and I know its a ball ache opening and closing the door to shoot your colour and clear and generally you can miss areas and have them dry areas too It's not a criticism it seems like a harder way for you .. but car looks fantastic

Hey Jo..still confused by something here ...you had blue paint below the cowl , before the fenders and doing the car ...did you base and clear that before the car or just base coat ?
