1965 Lady Kenmore Washer- Washing work pants

Ойын-сауық

Washing work pants in the 1965 Lady Kenmore washer. It did a nice job, the first cycle in this machine in nearly a decade. Sorry about the camera shaking and it fell. Hope you all enjoy the video.

    As clunky as Kenmore/Whirlpool washers were they sure deserve their place as some of the best washers this country ever produced. Sure there were rarer and better spinning washers, but these belt drive WP/KM have such a personality that is unique to the brand. They cleaned very well and sound like no others and were built very well. Just a nostalgia trip every time I see one of these, because when I was young in the 70's and early 80's I saw these machines around quite a bit. Hard to believe these would one day never be produced again.

    Gorgeous machine. Love the color and the lit control panel. The agitator scrubber is something we'll never see again. When Whirlpool changed from direct drive to belt drive I spoke with some or the morons at Sears, they said the lid lock is needed to prevent accidents. I then mentioned the agitator scrubbers and how it was never even needed, they didn't want to hear anything other than HE and see those commission dollars come their way.

    @@Gsohoover I honestly think that he washers do a very good job at cleaning. They just have all these new "technologies" that are supposed to clean the clothes better. For example, LG top loaders have something called "Turbo wash technology", which was patented by LG. Bottom line, they are good at cleaning. The only things I dislike about HE washers is that they only last five years and you cant overload them without something going wrong. But overall, they're pretty good machines. But I respect your opinion Gso.

    @ Gsohoover: Hi, I’m Charles... And I am also a Kenmore fan. I used Kenmores growing up.... . 24” Kenmore 1-Speed/1Cycle (1967-78) . Kenmore Model 70 Large Capacity (1978-). Still running when I left home in 1987 . Kenmore Model 600 2-Speed/3-Cycle w/Waterfull Lint Filter And Black Bakelite Straight-Vane Agitator (like the 1967 24” 1-Speed/Cycle I grew up with)(1967-1990) . Kenmore Model 80 Direct-Drive w/Dual-Action Agitator (1990-2007) . Kenmore Elite Model w/Stainless Steel Tub And Dual-Action Agitator (2007 until we moved). And our Dryers were..... . Kenmore All American Match All Dryer w/Solid-State Sensor inside a 5.9 cu. ft. Drum, Wrinkle-Guard, and Full-Width Door (1976-)(mate to our Kenmore 24” Washer) . Kenmore Match All Dryer to the 1990 Kenmore Direct-Drive Washer, also with Solid-State Sensor (now with a Lighted 6.9 cu. ft. Drum), Wrinkle-Guard and Semi Full-Width Door (1987). Now, with all of that out the way, and I hate to put it to you, but I believe your 1965 Lady Kenmore did have a Tub Light inside of it. Are you sure that it doesn’t? You also said that Paul has a 1965 Lady Kenmore just like yours, and I believe it has a Tub Light inside of it. You may want to check with him on that. The very first Lady Kenmore Keyboard did not have a Lighted Tub, but it did have a Detergent Dispenser on the right side of top of the machine next to lid. You might want to thoroughly check into that. Your 1965 Lady Kenmore is a beautiful and quiet machine, but I only believe that the 1969-75 Lady Kenmores were quieter still. Your 1965 is still a beautiful machine. Hope you enjoy it immensely. -Charles-

    Adjusting the water level to low does not change the amount of time it takes to drain that’s a timed drain cycle. Regardless of the water level in the tub high or low it will drain the same amount of time. My aunt had a Kenmore washer and I used to do her laundry many times it was an oldie believe it or not it was older than this one it had all the alphabets that you select a cycle with. Built like a tank with the black Roto swirl agitator and the same top that you have, black rubber with a detergent cup over it.

    If you listen closely, it's a 6-second solenoid-timed spray. We had a 1969 RCA washer built by Inglis with a whirlpool lint filter. It had the same pattern of spray rinses as your Lady Kenmorebut they were five seconds in duration. We later got a 1987 Kenmore and it had the exact same rinse pattern of four spray rinses x 5 seconds that the RCA had 18 years previously! Either the engineers were lazy, or it must have worked!

Poly straight vane 6. Vari flex 7. Large capacity straight vane in their first large capacity washers in the late 60's. Fins protruded up the agitator similar to speed queen. 8. Penta swirl 9. Penta vane 10. Dual action Almost forgot Sears did have a large capacity super roto swirl also. Quite a bit of agitators while sister whirlpool stuck with the super surgilator in varying forms over the belt drive's nearly 40 year run.

    What is the ticking noise 👎 in the spin cycle? I do not 👎 hear 👂 it in the wash, or drain cycle. I know ya said these machines have little quirks of their own, such as when ya take one out of storage to use it. I hope somebody specially builds transmissions, gears ⚙, and motors for these wonderful washing machines. They still make the original whitewall tires for classic cars, from the original molds. I hope that's also the truth with these Kenmore's, and Whirlpool's. There's buffs for these as well. I hope they make the parts for them. Your friend, Jeff.

  • @unconventionalideas5683

    @unconventionalideas5683

    That’s the timer. It is present earlier in the cycle if you listen carefully, but the agitation noises cover it up a bit, because the ticking coincides with the water sloshing as the agitator reverses direction.
