Full Cycle- ~1970 Hotpoint WLW26201 washing load of whites
Ойын-сауық
Full cycle of a circa 1970 Hotpoint solid tub automatic washer with a tub break. This machine also has a fountain filter but decided to stop functioning on me. I plan on making more videos with this and some other fun stuff as well. Huge thank you to Steve for giving me this machine last summer! I restored it shortly after getting it, still have some issues to work out with the fountain filter. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!

It always amazes me how quickly these machines employ the water. Love the spinning starting full of water.

@philforest4747: Today only the Speed Queen TC 5000 SERIES WASHERS start spinning full of water. The rest of the Washers made today are all doing neutral drains. The front loaders do tumble draining.

Those wonderful old Frigidaire Unimatic top loaders also started spinning with water.

@philforest4747: The spinning starting full of water reminds me of the older MAYTAGS,GEs, FRIDGIDARES, SPEED QUEENs, and even KELVINATORS, EASY, and PHILCO-BENDIX TOP LOADERS. Also the HAMILTON WASHERS.
Great washer .. superb gentle rollover Bring these back
Nice to see another posting you have all these fabulous vintage washers and we all love to see them.
I absolutely love this. When I was in my teens, we had a 1967 "Hotpoint 16" with a fountain filter. It was similar to this machine. However, there was no tub brake. The tub just coasted to a stop at the end of a spin. It featured "Programmed Multi Cycle" which selected wash temperature and agitate / spin speeds. There was a separate control for warm or cold rinse. The fill selector had settings for small, medium, or large. However as with solid tub machines, the fill was timed. There was a button called "Water Saver" that you could press at any time during the fill to start agitation and stop the tub from filling further. We had very high water pressure, so the medium setting actually gave us a full tub. We used the water saver button frequently. It had a combination bleach and softener dispenser located under the lid just in back of the water fill spout. You would press a button to empty water from both sides of the dispenser. Then you would add bleach on the left and softener on the right. At the appropriate time, the machine would flush water into the dispenser and release the product into the tub. We had this washer from the fall of 1967 to the spring of 1975. It's matching dryer failed, so my parents opted to replaced both with Kenmore. But out of the 6 machines my parents had over the years, the Hotpoint was my favorite,

@lynx93tk: I certainly would have kept this washer right up to the end of it's life cycle. You should have hung on to this washer. Just should have replaced the dryer with let's say a GE or SEARS dryer.

@@albertcarello619 I would have kept it too, but at age 21, had no say in the matter. My mother wanted a matched set, so a matched set she got. They had the 1975 Kenmore set until early 1989, when I was told that the dryer burned up (smoked or actually caught fire, I will never know). The 1975 washer was still fine. So the 1975 set was replaced with a 1989 Kenmore set with a direct drive washer (70 Series). That set, beaten up as it became, lasted until my sister and I had them carted away last year while cleaning out my father's house.

Great story. They are neat machines.
So good to see you back! It had been awhile since you posted any new videos of your fabulous collection. My mom has an early 60s Hotpoint and the fountain filter was always breakiing sown but otherwise that machine was a workhorse and lasted for many years.
I would buy this in a heartbeat if it were available. Not a question in my mind.

The washers of today are junk. I usually look at them when I’m at Lowe’s or anywhere that sells appliances, and I’m just baffled by the flimsy quality. Speed Queen is about the only one out there that’s even remotely close to how a vintage washer operates.

I have to take apart the agitator to see. It worked for a short while. Apparently they were problematic.
What a Hotpoint..luv it. When and where did you get it. It's in excellent condition. My grandmother ditched her Maytag wringer and this was her first automatic . What happened to the filter ring that fits on top of the agitator ?

I've heard bad things about the he washer.
I think these modern washers need to look and see how laundry supposed to be washed. I don’t use modern washer.i use wringers washers and a auto 2000 Sears kenmoore
Awesome Machine, Great Agitation, you can see the turbulence, love how it fills too. Dam shame theirs nothing remotely available like this today, Truly a Bygone era... Now washers are all Basicly the same Shit design with maybe slight differences, Most Cant Clean cloths that have more then " a day at the offcie" Level of soil, Cant make the machine fill with enough water, Auto Sensing is Crap.... He detergent is crap. Its a sad world nowadays when it comes to Cloths washers.... All for the guise of "Efficiency" I say thats crap, its outsorced forigen made Crap with "US logos" Built to Break ASAP. If you really look into machines avalable today, some can Be hacked or forced to Fill. But not the Majoprity... units with an "Agitator" tend to be marketed as the "cheap" pr low end models, even still the agitation is usualy Weak Short strokes featuring a spinning tub for whatever resaon.. and Despite the 3000+ Cycles and gimmicky options, basicly the machine is gonna give you 3 inches of water, Cold preferably.. and Gently push your cloths back and forth in the 3 inches for an hour and a half... or more... Which to me is the inverse of Efficient.... youll be lucky if a stain can even be removed by just the washer, With out pretreatment or the need for you to hand wash your stuff... And to top it all, the prices for the machienes are beyond Insane.. Spend over 1k on a new Washplate type machine... if your used t this kind of wash that can be rovided by a 40 or 50 year old machine, If your lucky enought to have one... Youll be surely Disappointment.... or go front loader , and youll generaly get a moderate wash which has some ablilty to remove soil... but be ready for the standard 2 hour "quick wash" Also the standard stink of mold and who knows what that front loaders pick up after a year... also be ready for your cloths to feature this smell too.. Makes me mad.. I cant choose between the 400 POS, or the 1000, slightly better POS. So i just went and got a twin tub... tho im a speciall case i guess. My cloths sometimes have heavy Soiling, the kind one picks up working on cars.... Very Very stubborn break dust, oils and who knows what. at least the twin tub Give a good agitation, i cant find a new automatic that can even touch my work stuff. and call me crazy but im not into replacing my work cloths after they get dirty, id be buying new outfits every day.. Wish we could get the premium twin tubs here in the US.. but no only sold in Africa like WTF>? Fuckin corporations, somethings gotta be done... Like ppl need to demand better products or dont buy them.. this goes for many industeries, Video games... Modern Autos... Appliances... Like complies are gonna screw the customers as long as the customers are bending down to let them.. and god knows people sure do nowadays... Comsumers... Perfect descrition of most modern americans, Freakin sad..
