One step Cadillac took for the Calais was to eliminate the stainless steel molding down low between the wheel wheels. Also, leather was not available.

Power steering belt needs tighten or replaced. Very clean car

Back in the 80s my dad had one like this but it was gold with the Automatic Climate Control. It was almost in museum quality, even though it was 20 years old at the time. He preferred Buicks, so he did not keep it long.

Interesting that Cadillac basically used the 4 door hardtop roof for the coupes and adjusted the door and quarter panel length to make it a 2 door. Chevy, Buick, Olds and Pontiac used a fastback roof design on their full sized 2 door cars in '65 except for the upmarket '98's, Electras,and Bonneviles which used the more formal 2 door roof line instead of the fastback. Too bad that a '65 Impala did not offer a more formal 2 door roofline along with the fastback design.

My 64 Coupe Deville was last year of the bulky look design......65 is so much crisper in style.....I like this car......Calais is the base model Caddy's....they were called the 62 series before 65 was renamed Calais

Why does the 'Drive' option on the gears shifter have two dots? Is the second option sport mode?

One is driving in city other gear is for the express way.its an extra gear for highway driving

I believe it is for snow & ice and skips 1st gear. These cars have 3 gears period. No extra gear for highway driving. My 61 Lincoln has the same feature.

your right... engine sounds rough....maybe carb is dirty or needs rebuilt...gas tank could have sediment sucking up to carb...tune up may also help her out....steering noise...belt needs looked at/replaced or tightened...... nice looking car....I like coupes....had a 64 Coupe Deville years ago....she ran smooth at idle and drive speeds

How hard can it be to tighten up put new belt on cmon man !!

I never understood why Cadillac would have bothered making the Calais model or why anyone would buy one? They were really basically a cheapened up De Ville. A lot didn’t have air conditioning and I think power windows were an option. They had a cheap looking interior. I think they were for wannabes who wanted to show the world they drove a Cadillac. For the same price a person could have bought a loaded Buick. This one is pretty ratty and is tough running with power steering problems and a bad exhaust.
