Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

1964 Ford Falcon 260 Termite Racer-Muscle Car Of The Week Video Episode # 181:
Back in the early 1960s, Ford sold an economy car called the Falcon, a lightweight, basic car... you know, the kind of platform that makes for a great... race car! Our Muscle Car Of The Week is just such an animal… or should I say, Insect! Behold the mighty Termite, a 1964 Ford Falcon that ran hard enough in the heyday of the AHRA to knock down a couple records with it’s hard-charging 260-cube V8. From The Brothers Collection.

    Knew someone who owned a 66 ford falcon and dropped in a 400 horse 351w small block with a toploader 4 spd. Painted her pearl white with s small street scoop.God it was beautiful and soooooo fast.People heard about that car real quick and the BB chevy boys found out real fast how quick you lost when lined up against that 4 wheeled rocket pack.

    Oh Hell... How cool would it be to have a "Vintage Race Car Of The Week" program? A collection of classic race cars from 40's-70's. Factory racers, big names, small names- Sox & Martin, Stone, Woods & Cook, Holman-Moody, the names and teams go on forever.

    Great video. Falcons don't get as much love as they should. I hope to change that where I live when my dad and I get our 63 and 65 hardtops finished.

    Great idea to acquire and show these vintage race cars. Love the classic muscle cars every week, but it's GREAT to expand the collection. There are SO many important classic drag, circle track, and road race cars out there that need to be restored. Oh yea, I vote The Termite as the MCOTW BURNOUT CHAMP.

    Very popular cars when I was growing up in the '60s. The Mustang came off the same platform then eventually replaced the Falcon but these Falcons here in my opinion are just as good looking. And so many people owned them and Street raced them back in the early seventies when I was in high school. We even had a quarter mile marked off on a country road out of Salem Oregon where many people would gather and race their cars. Fun times!

    A C4 automatic in this little beast? And set several class records? Damn. If that C4 isn't beefed up somehow, that's one truly "magical C4". I've owned a few Fords with that damned C4, and every one of them failed.......and each of those had just the minimal stock 302's. One was a '71 or '72 Gran Torino ( been so long ago, I can't remember which year ) and I had THAT C4 totally rebuilt when it failed.....it failed AGAIN......so replaced it with a different C4........and that one took a shit too. So really, I went through at least 7 or 8 of those damned things.......in 3 cars. I was even told by a few guys back in the day, that was a terrible transmission. Beats me.......all mine sure sucked. Awesome little racer though......( the Termite Falcon.......not mine..lol.)

    I had good luck with a C4 in a 69 Falcon 6-cylinder 200ci. The torque converter blew up once but the transmission was fine. What I remember about them is the vacuum diaphragm on the transmission would rupture and you would send a cloud of white smoke out of the tailpipe. The valve bodies were known to have sticking valves that caused the shift points to be high.

    What makes a 'BOSS' a BOSS? Was it a certain person at the factory or aftermarket of certain parts? I thought it was limited to a 302 or 429.

  • @bigkahuna1950

    @bigkahuna1950

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ford produced Boss 302 and 429 variants for 1968 through 1971. The Boss 302 became a Boss 351 in 1971. The Boss 260 reference simply trades on the popularity of the actual Ford production engines.

  • @bigkahuna1950

    @bigkahuna1950

    +bigkahuna1950 I should have added, Larry Shinoda, designer of the Boss 302 specific striping and styling for the 1969 Mustang, actually named the car Boss after his performance loving boss at the time, Ford president, Bunky Knudsen. Their stories could and have filled several volumes.

    TheDrywallogist What makes it a Boss would actually be using cleavland heads , I did this to a Windsor motor many years ago . Most people now will say it can't be done , but yes it can , and it's not that difficult . The 69 and 70 mustang Boss 302 were proof .
