The goop that you spoke of in the engine compartment is seam sealer. Used on the assembly line and by body shops when installing new panels. Still available.

Have you thought about using a paint gun? It is more economic and you can mix ingredients in proper way to get wide possible parameters of paint.

:) Thanks for the advice. Yes, I agree. A paint gun would produce a superior paint job. I don't currently have a working gun. Perhaps in the future I will be able to invest in the equipment for that process. Thanks for watching and commenting!

As Rex said it's seam sealer , IMHO I would have gone with a satin black on the engine bay which is in between gloss & flat , & closer to the factory color on late models , & I've only had 1 early ( 60 ) & the engine bay was the same as the body color . The way your doing it looks fine ! I did mine the same way as far labelling everything & bagging it , & tagging the parts ! Takes the guess work out of everything . I have not had the chance to do anything with my Vairs , Been to busy turning wrenches on the daily's , & the tractors , As well as the honey do's . This 64 that your working on looks pretty solid , & deserving of the engine rebuild ! Thanks for the video.

That's cool. I am trying to gather all of the parts I need to rebuild the engine for the 64 in this video. I have never assembled an engine from scratch...Should be an adventure! I have the heads, crank, and pistons back from the machine shop. I have cleaned and prepped all of the tins and such. Just need to buy all the other bits, close my eyes, and start wrenchin :)
