Driving a 1964 Corvair Monza to a Corvair swap meet!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Driving my 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza for it's longest trip since "restoration" to our Corvair club swap meet. Join me as I meet up with some friends, look at some cars, swap some parts and drive a Corvair. We get to look a what my good friend Kyle is working on, and just enjoy an event looking at interesting Chevrolet Corvairs of all years and in all conditions.

A few years back I drove my 64 with a 140 engine over 500 miles round trip to a swap meet. No problems. I don't have the car anymore and sometimes I miss it. They're fun to drive.

They're great cars to drive on trips. I've taken them all over. I have done several long distance trips to Corvair conventions etc.
My Dad really liked the Corvairs and owned a number of them. I enjoy your program especially with the Corvairs.

thanks very much, glad you enjoyed.
Nice to see Kyle again, looks like your twin is doing great work as well. It would appear that no one has really changed over the years, looking by the swap meet event, good they got a chance to be together.

Yeah it's more of the same but it's nice to see everyone and the cars and what has changed. Some are better, some are worse.
Hi Ed, swap meet looked like a neighborhood swap meet pretty cool.

It kind of is, it's one of our club members who lives on a corner lot.
Good stuff!! Fun content in this one.

Kyle’s car looks great. Where does he paint them. Looks like a solid car. No pictures of the Lakewood that was at the swap meet. Another good video. 👍

Kyle built a booth and painted that himself. I am very impressed by the results. I was busy at the swap and didn't record anything until a few people were gone.

I usually just do videos on whatever I happen to be working on or doing at the time. I've only replaced them before with rubber factory replacement from Clark's. I don't really like the plastic type. I find they squeak after a while. Hope that helps.
Beautiful car! I just bought a 64 convertible. brakes currently do not work. Master cylinder looks pretty corroded. What is the deal with the metallic and non-metallic brakes? And do you recommend Clarks corvair for the parts?
@SlowCarFix

Hello, I don't really have a preference. Either metallic or non metallic are fine by me. I get the majority of my parts from Clark's. They're very good to deal with. Congrats on your new purchase. '64 is a good year to have. It's a refined early with a transverse leaf spring, sway bar and a 164 cubic inch engine. Also have to love the map pockets in the door cards.
Is that Justin Johnson on guitar?

no idea, it's music I get from a service that I pay for to avoid copyright infringements. One of the joys of modern KZread, can't use music from the radio. I generally just try to pick tunes that I like, and hope everyone else does too.
What is your opinion on the Otto belt tensioners?
@SlowCarFix

The spring loaded ones? I've never used one. I think in this instance I didn't set the belt right in the first place and missed it on my checkover before taking it for a longer run.
At the Konis on the front of the light Blue LM Corvair specific or adapted from a GM A Body?

Those one's I believe are Corvair specific. Same spec as a Stinger would have. I believe they're still available new.

@@SlowCarFix They are but they're TAX! I used Chevelle shocks on the from and 67 Camaro for the rear. Less than 1/4 the price of the Corvair specific shocks.
