You really should get the Falcon back on the road, she runs great even with a gas can for a fuel tank and having sat unused for months. That's Ford tough for ya!

My second car, bought in 1980 for $150.00 was a 62 Falcon. Started in 40 below every time. Indestructible, reliable, covered in rust, but had a great heater. Sold it in 82 for $100.00.

Four-door cars from 1962 are rare. Everyone wants to restore two-door models. I think they are cool. This is a good show. I like where you mentioned the hole in the floor!

I had this same engine in my '68 fairlane. Let me tell you it's just about bullet proof. I paid 100 dollars for that car and drove it for 8 years, then just gave it to a kid down the street that was in love with it. He was still driving it when I moved away 2 years later.

Seems like the best starting (non daily) vehicle you have. As a lot of other people, i really love this old Falcon. Sits under a tree for God knows how long, and it just starts and driver. Even the brake-lights still work! So you might want to check that defroster, that too might work just fine! ;-) What would it take to get the Falcon in good, reliable condition?

+Jay Groom As long as you find one that hasn't been rusted out and has had the front brakes upgraded, you could do it. It is probably best if you stay away from the interstates, unless you get one with a v8. The 6 cylinders are good for puttering along at 50 MPH, but at 70 you'd be spinning too many RPMs for good cruising.

sounds good. I saw a 69 for sale last week. Didn't have time to look at it and now it is gone. Maybe next time. I am thinking an AOD replacement would make a good upgrade on that car and different gears in the rear.

@@rexjolles Enjoy the brake fade. I drove on drum brakes before. Scary when driving at modern traffic speeds, fine for 55MPH or less. I make an exception for originality for safety reasons. Nothing wrong with saving the original parts for the purists, though.
