That's a song you haven't heard in 20 years and you can hum along with every note.

WJR the 50,000 Watt Flamethrower. Summer weekends you could hear this theme floating in the air. From Metro Beach to Hines Park to Stony Creek to Belle Isle, and from your neighbor's back yard three fences over ! Summer vacation of '68 !

I can remember “uncle Fred” next door on the shores of lake Erie in harrow Ontario. Sunday afternoon, in the 60s. Paint brush in hand. At the cottage. But no painting done. A tigers doubleheader. Heat humidity ernie harwell and Paul Carey broadcasting. WJR Detroit. If I could go back.

So many fantastic memories of growing up outside of Ypsi/A2/Milan listening to this in the garage with my dad. Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey were incredible commentators. The Tigers continued this theme into the 1970s. Also loved listening to Bob Ufer for U of M football! Thank you for posting!

I listened to that well over 1,000 times. Ernie Harwell and Gene Osborne, and Ray Lane, then Paul Carey. I will never forget listening to the brothers broadcast of light hitting Hank Aguirre getting a triple.

Does anyone have a link to the WJR baseball intro theme from the early 1990s? Replaced this theme I think. "Now Sparky's the same, and Ernie's on the mike, With Ilitch it's a whole new ballgame. Talkin bout the Tigers, I love my Detroit Tigers" something like that? "

The 1961 Detroit Tigers had the best offense in the A.L. despite all the acclaim of the Yankees two juggernauts.
