I gotta say, My Dad was probably glad we were in the upper deck deck on the 1B line to get us outta there. lol. I vividly remember my parents hauling me through the revelry to get to the car.. It was fun, but a bit scary. I'd never seen adults lose their mind in joy before. I remember the ramps were wild.. outside wasn't too nuts by the time we bailed.

Note how Vin Scully, at the crack of the bat, said "And there it goes...." and nothing else until Gibby had returned to the dugout, letting the picture, the players, and the crowd fill in the story. What a great announcer.

That's awesome! Did he ever talk about it with you? I imagine this team was ridiculously fun to play for. This team, the 2013 Red Sox, 1988 Dodgers, and 1979 Pirates seem like the most fun teams ever. Had to edit: it was the 79 Pirates not 78. Typo...

Earlier that day, Bob Costas was in New York hosting NFL 84 pre game show then after the show, Bob took a flight to Detroit for post game should the Tigers win which they did.

First off, the utter Genius of Vin Scully to just shut up after "An THERE IT GOES!" Secondly, what I think a lot of people don't realize is the reason Gossage wanted to go for it, is because Gibson had never even gotten on bass versus Gossage up to that point of course. I think somebody posted it was like 13 different at-bats and Gibson never got a hit or got on base I believe

It seems that the big crows years back, such in this game, were much more into the game. Maybe it was because there were a lot fewer MBL teams and there wasn't an over exposure like today.

People are busy trying to record and post things to social media now. Takes all the authentic energy out of the crowd. Those fans were living in the moment, so there was nothing else to do but get engaged in every pitch
