That would have to be the best all-over tank fairlane I've ever seen due to the miles and over all honest conditions

I had a blue and white one with352" and three speed in 1964. Installed an R code 427" that had a broken rod. Got two new new rods from Ford and rebuilt in JC auto shop. First power run scattered the three speed. Found a 427 drag racer at a junk yard..had all race parts. Put them in a 59 and street raced passing it off as all stock 352. Threw a jacket over the four speed shifter and put 352 valve covers and aircleaner on the engine. Messed around street racing Chevy gassers..lied to them..LOL

As a teenager a friend owned a 1958 with a large engine. Totally stock, I remember the car being very quiet at highway speeds, and yet powerful. It gave the impression of being a "strong" automobile.

We had a tan and white 59 Fairlane 2 dr. Sedan when I was a kid. It was a hand me down from my grandmother. When I was about 12, my mom worked about 2 blocks from our house and she would let me drive her to work. I would walk home from there. I thought that was a big deal. The car eventually became a rust bucket and my dad sold it for $75 to a co-worker. At the time, we weren't sad to see it go, but I've always wanted a better one.

FYI, Ford promoted this model as the Galaxie, never a Fairlane 500 Galaxie, nor as a Galaxie Fairlane. Just Galaxie. The model they promoted as the Fairlane 500 had a different roof.

Unfortunately I “Trashed” one of these cars in late 1967 in a very drunken accident. It’s a wonder I wasn’t killed. It was flawless and belonged to my girlfriend and she asked me to drive. Real Bad Night…

Love the car. Some of my earliest driving was on a 59 ford. What is the price and location?

Wow, what a stellar car. '59 is my favorite Ford of the '49s '50s and maybe further into the '60s. It would be hard to choose something in the '60s over this one. The interior was was like none other. It looks on the drive that you selected D2. D1 would get you all 3 gears. D2 starts in second, if that is what you did Would really weaken performance.

Sure, that's not 262,301 mile, easy error is still a fine example of a car that's been extremely well looked after.

Ford never referred to the 59 Galaxie as "Fairlane 500 Galaxie", just "Ford Galaxie", decklid badging notwithstanding. I am old enough to know, so don't try to argue with me.
