1958 - Beaumont Trophy - Vintage Cycling

The 1958 Beaumont Trophy Road Race starting in Gosforth and held over the hills of Northumberland and covering approximately 90 miles.
The race commentary is provided by Bill Baty of the The Velo club, Bill was the winner of many races during his career and a multiple National Champion, he also wins this race crossing the line with his younger brother Norman who took second.
Bill sadly passed away in 2015.

Brilliant, know all these roads...
More than 50 years later I ride on the same roads, recognise all the names 😀 Oh, and sometimes with his daughter (can't remember whether she's Norman's or Bill's daughter.)
I was young and during the latter 1950's and into the 1960's I did Time Trialing with the KENTISH WHEELERS. Lovely times and memories. And of course I was amazes and still am by RAY BOOTY.
