On "My Car Story" we're at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis WI on 2-22-24 at the World of Wheels car show.
We're looking at a 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria in Diamond Blue & White Paint. The car is equipped with a 312 CI Y Block V8 engine, with an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Jason Schultz. Jason’s had this car since 2022. Jason shares his neighbor had the car and knew he wanted a 1950’s car and thought it would be good to keep it in the neighborhood. Well both people were satisfied with the car’s new home.

In 1962, a diminutive 30-year-old brunette was tasked with transporting four children from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Austin, Minnesota, a distance of 100 miles in a 1949 Mercury Monterey. The car was okay except for having a radiator that was full of holes! She solved that problem by stopping every few miles to fill it with water. The children were ages 1, 3, 5, and 7. Taking that long trip and moving into their new home must have been difficult, and the seven-year-old had a key role! Her husband followed them in their slightly used 1958 Oldsmobile 88 a few days later. Both cars broke down, and they had to get a loaner from the nearby mechanic while they were getting fixed. That car was a blue and white 1956 Ford Victoria! (I was a five-year-old.)

I was a year old when this car was produced, but had I been old enough I'd have had a hard time deciding between Ford, Chevy and Plymouth in 1956. Finally, Ford and MOPAR went to 12 volt, all three were good cars and good looking cars. I can remember a road test from the time with all three and they didn't see a clear winner. I really like this gentleman's Victoria; usually we see all the attention going to the Crown Vic instead. This is a beautiful, beautiful car! Thanks for sharing with us.

In 1955 and 1956 Ford really made great cars, with the low and round roofline of the Crown Vic ('55 and'56), which was trickled down to the '56 Fairlane 2 dr hardtop, really giving those cars a great styling advantage over the contemporary GM and ChryCo products. GM at least for my taste got somewhat lost in the bulkiness btw 1954 and 1958, and ChryCo was upping their game but they would only really shine btw 1957 and 1961

A beautiful car! Knowing the history of the car, it is guaranteed this car is correct as it came new from the dealer's showroom. The only possible modification from the assembly line would be the dealer installed continental kit. As I understand from your videos with Dennis Roxworthy, that is how Ford did the kits. They manufactured them and sold them as a dealer installed accessory. I am not a fan of the kits, but like Jason Schultz, I would take on the responsibility of the curator of this fine museum piece and retain the kit. The fuzzy dice on the otherhand may have to go after Mr Dahl, the original owner and his wife pass on. This is truly a wonderful example of the Fords of the fifties and when Mr Schultz get to an age and health where he can now longer care for it, the next owner should be an automobile museum or a collector that will take on the responsibility of keeping it in the condition it is in and sharing it in car shows. Thanks for featuring this one on your My Car Story channel.
