For sure you can always count on this channel to show everything or close to everything this car I couldn’t get into the pedal box to show it because it was parked too close to the wall. I wanted to give the best look possible at the wood in case anybody’s restoring one of these so they can see how this fits together

I think it was the fad there is another woody wagon coming up sometime in the future maybe when we do a Ford woody wagon talk about woody wagons in general I think it was a fad, like an automotive bad that stems off of war supplies.. dating back to world war 1. I think they built the wood bodies to save on steel, I did not shoot a Ford woody wagon yet but when I do we’ll talk about the lineage/history of Woody wagons cause I think Ford was the first one that started all of that I could be wrong though

Love the craftsmanship. The first series 49 Chevy wagons did have real wood (but much less of it). They switched to tin woodie design pretty early in the run. Mopar offered traditional look woodie wagons (but wood panels bolted to steel body) to 1950 and the Ford/Merc had structural wood to 51. Buick held out until 53 - though structural wood in the later FoMoCo and Buick was really mostly in the tailgate. Choice - 48 Ford, episode - Pierce Arrow.

Pierce-Arrow. Bezels on the headlights are supposed to be painted, though all the die-cast models have them chromed for some reason. Also believe the little grooves on the side of the headlight bezels are painted red. That hood ornament was a special higher-cost item; standard didn't have the clear plastic fin.

I hope I was able to show all of the woodwork for what it was especially if somebody’s looking to restore one of these vehicles I figured this would give it the perfect representation of all the different lines from the wood.

Me too and yeah did you see the pictures at the end it would be a nightmare that’s why I took so much time going over all of the different lines in the wood because it would take a long time to remake that and it might help somebody who is restoring one. =) I’m not sure if they make kits. But much like building cabinets all you have to do is build one and they get easier the more you build them issue is the people that have these cars now they didn’t work in the factory so they don’t know how to build it.

Did the rear seat fold down? I'm guessing it did not because they were like bus seats

Hiya Jay, I was reflecting on the engine specs. It seemed to offer the worst of both worlds, with a very poor power output, and dreadful fuel economy simultaneously. Trying to merge onto a freeway, you would get there by next Tuesday, which must have been considered acceptable for the day? It would compare very favourably with a Jeep Wrangler, if it had a lawnmower engine fitted to it, but the callow youth of today would probably flog the beast to death in very short order I suspect?

Thank you so much for sharing all of that insight I would think that it would be under powered 235 that came later with a full pressurize system would probably be a better engine for this car. I’ve driven a couple 216 cars they’re not fun to drive they’re very slow

@@What.its.like. I haven't driven with that engine, but I had an ancient 63 VW briefly, thank god, and with 3 passengers aboard, the likelihood of reaching the summit of a small hill was perpetually in doubt. In first gear with the engine audibly losing revs, I always expected it to stall with my foot to the floor.😆😆
