    Those "Cheapie" NGK plugs are the highest quality plugs you will ever own.

    @monk43012 I agree Partially with your post. I Like NKG products for small engines such as lawn mowers, ATV's etc. but for my antique tractors such as my Deere's and IH's I have not had good luck with them. They seem to last about 1 season, and then the tractor has a really hard time starting, when you pull the plug it is corroded and wet with moisture. I suspect that this has to do with the cast iron and wall thicknesses of heads. as to wear small engines is usually aluminum cast etc. And for that Note, Autolite and Champions are what I use on my Antique Tractors. Great Topic though, and like I said NKG's are great products, it just depends on the application!

    My grandfather and father farmed with 2 cylinder John Deere tractors. The first tractor I cultivated milo on was a John Deere 70. In 1965 dad traded for a new 4020 John Deere diesel. The 70 left , a 3 cylinder German built diesel replaced it. We still have that little John Deere. As I make my comment , you will know i'm talking from experience. You may or may not know about what , i'm telling you. It's meant to help! The bracket over the spark plugs is so weeds do not short out the plugs. Do you have the stub shaft that bolts into the steering wheel for hand starting? On dad's G the tool box was just in front of the steering wheel support. Have a good day!

    Thanks for the comment. I do not have the hand starting shaft. I wish I did. Yes, I know what those brackets are for. A lot of times they are missing completely so it’s nice they are there. Hopefully I can save this old girl and get her running again. I hate to see these old tractors neglected like this.

    Erik, I love the "can I keep it running dance" at the end; I do exactly the same thing LOL! A lovely looking Deere, personally as it's so straight I'd leave the patina and concentrate on the engineering, original tractors with few or no dents are getting rare. Will be watching with much interest, excellent! HowardT

    You can just repolorise the henerator and regulator if you want to run negative ground.

    Now that's good stuff right there. I thoroughly enjoy watching you work through a challenge. Taking notes for my retirement. When I will attempt a project like this. Maybe not as challenging but of the mechanical variety. Thanks for taking me along. As always, I'm rootin fer ya!

    Yes, they were designed to start on gas and switch to kerosene or tractor fuel, but not diesel.

    The only thing that would cause an issue with is the generator, the starter motor and lights could care less which way the battery is hooked up. Some Case tractors were actually 6V neg ground, but the neg ground regulators were hard to find so most got switched over to POS ground.

    So is your plan to keep the two tanks intact with the front one just for kerosene, etc., since the valve is working to switch tanks? Overall, not bad purchase.

  • @AntiqueCarsandStuff

    @AntiqueCarsandStuff

    Yes, since everything is there I would prefer to keep both tanks. Hopefully that front tank can be saved ...

    @AntiqueCarsandStuff since it's not a unstyled BN you'd have to send the serial number into the John Deere two cylinder club and pay to have the SN researched to be sure.
