Been building since 10 yr old. Now at 58 I have to say, this hobby is the most fulfilling and rewarding ever. The quality of kits today puts them in another class all together. I just wish the prices were more acceptable to get younger people involved. Oh, and nice woody ! As a side note my late mother used to tell me of driving one of those. She said they were pretty but boy were they noisy and creeked everywhere you drove them .

@Stephen Lafian That's fine if you're into modern model kit precision. My builds have been mainly Rod & Custom and jalopy racers of the '40s, '50s and '60s. I'll buy 10 "crappy" AMT/MPC models from the 1960s for every 1 Moebius kit merely for nostalgic parts and qualities inherent in those old kits. It's just what I'm into with my model car subject matter.

@Stephen Lafian I agree. However you get your kit building satisfaction is good. Over the last 30 years I've heared modelers cranking about re-issued, old kits not standing up to the modern standard of a new-tool kit. I think that new subjects and new tooling is great but I also enjoy the nostalgia value to an old, more "primative" kit. For example, I am just finishing an AMT '40 Ford Sedan (1986 re-issue, 1960 tooling). I am replicating the original box art gasser drag car. Not only am I channeling early-'60s model car building, I am also revisiting the first time I built this kit in 1974 when I was 11. It's all part of the fun for me. Happy hobbying!

Once again,I tell this story. I am 58. When I was 27, I was a manager for 3 years at a place called Allied Hobbies in Langhorne,Pa. This was a "REAL" hobbyshop,not a Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Anyway, I bought alot of car models while working there,and not building them. I stored them in a closet in my parents home for over 30+ years. The passed away and I took over the home. Because I do HVAC,I did not have the time,or thee desire to build any models. So,about 2 years ago,I was ready to sell my entire collection of unbuilt kits in one lump sum. I posted my collection on utube, and left comments on car model channels with one person maybe interested. One day, I started watching this channel titled " Hpiguy ". The next day I pulled some kits out of the closet, looked at them and right then, got online and ordered an airbrush /compressor package deal.Started stocking up on paints and other stuff. I have been building nonstop ever since. I thank Hpiguy for my new love for car model building, as well as military jet aircraft . Utube is great for stuff like hobbies.

Hey, I just want to say that I'm enjoying your build videos. I'm on the Big Island of Hawaii and there is not a single hobby shop on this island. I can't even buy model glue here. like you, I also have no modeling friends to share your channel with. Possibly because you can't buy a model here. (Well,...online) pity. Same on Maui. Walmart used to stock kits, but hasn't in a while. On vacation there a few years back, I found a used (open kit) at Endangered Pieces in Kihei, picked up a couple rattle cans, super glue and a big box (for makeshift spray booth) at the Ace Hardware. Put that bad boy together in between all the other island fun. Great aloha memories.

Be proud. That was an excellent build.

I was expecting the wooden parts to look unrealistic, but they turned out really nice! Can´t tell from real wood. Great looking model! I find watching these build videos quite relaxing actually, it´s like watching art being made. Just got back to car modelling myself, after 20 years, inspired by videos like these. My first spray paint job turned out better than all the ones back in the day

@@modelcarvideos5829 Yea brush painting really doesn´t work on cars, at least with glossy paint. I tried regular spray cans back in the 90s, but my painting skills were pretty crap, the surface always turned grainy :D

Again, lovely job! Recently I built the hot rod version. The sheet metal was a sea-foam green, it was a bit brighter than I wanted. Yes, a challenging kit, but quite rewarding. BTW, I had no body to chassis fit issues, Odd.

I painted this chrome but now I use bare metal foil.

What color did you use for the engine?

She turn great..if you grow your channel join group build or build off .I'm having top 10 build off is stock box.

i´m gonna build the ¨hot rod¨version of this kit (its the same, but it comes out with another set of wheels) I´d like to ask you how you managed to paint the two tone wood grain Real nice build, i like the colors you choosed!

I just brushed it 2 different colors and dry brushed a little darker brown over the lighter to give a wood grain effect.
