1932 Tom Berwick - Isn’t It Romantic (Rex Blaine, vocal)
Музыка
In addition to the most commonly-heard Larry Hart lyric, we also get the “take a shower-scrub the floor-onion soup” verse in this version of the tune from the marvelous Maurice Chevalier-Jeanette MacDonald film musical “Love Me Tonight.” Per Johnson-Shirley--but not DAHR--trumpeter Sid Peltyn directed this and the flip side “Please” ( • 1932 Tom Berwick - Ple... ), the first two tracks to be recorded and issued under the “Tom Berwick” banner.
From 78rpm Electradisk 1900 - Isn’t It Romantic (Hart-Rodgers) by Tom Berwick and the Ritz Carlton Orchestra, vocal by Rex Blaine, recorded in NYC September 28, 1932 .

what a beautiful song...like a time machine
Near the beginning of the 1932 movie Love Me Tonight, this tune goes through a marvelous over 6 minute sequence starting with Maurice Chevalier and ending with Jeanette MacDonald in which it is treated in all sorts or ways including as a march. Only with MacDonald does it get slowed down to a love ballad. Great piece of film making
Nice one. Thank you for sharing/
I LOVE these GREAT Records! This one is just wonderful! I LOVE the Comedy in this!
Often Larry's most fascinating lyrics are passed over, in favor of the more conventionally romantic couplets. It's good to hear a treatment of this famous number that dares to be different.

Is the tempo a bit brisk, or is this just the tempo they used to play it at back then?

@@toronado455 I would say it's typical of the era. It was later that the romantic numbers were treated as music for listening to, etc., rather than as just something to get the dancers out on the floor.

@@Trombonology Remember that 78 rpm records are limited to a little over 3 minutes. Sometimes recordings were a little faster than they were played live to get everything on the record. Might fit with all the lyrics they are trying to fit in here.

So different, in fact, that it's the first time that I heard this song with all lyrics intact. Love it!
Canzoni meravigliose scritte con buon gusto ed ironia, giustamente divenuti classici da tramandare 🎶😃
I liked this Song , very good
His voice is just like Rudy Vallee’s
I wish this was on Spotify, this is a lovely gem.
I LOVE this song
Delightful
Hey! This is a GEM! Precisely for including the full film lyric. Band is mediocre, but on a bargain label....its OK! Thanx.
Great
Though I don’t particularly favor Rex Blaine’s vocals on this song, I absolutely adore the instrumental bits!
Sorry folks, that is Rudy Vallie singing. If you look at his works and the songs, they are identical.
Great to hear the full Hart lyrics. The singer sucks, though.
Brilliant Rodgers and Hart song. Too bad the vocalist is terrible.
