People and golfers then, were so polite and thoughtful. Golfers were competitive yet very thoughtful and had extremely good etiquette. The spectators were very well behaved then.

i learnd so much things about golf or even more interresting, the style of live that is was back in that time. in 2021 not a lot of peoples are still alive that could say that they were there

About 270y... the ambassador/ legend/ hands down greatest gift to the sport. One of the 5 people from history I would be honored to meet. I have been blessed with meeting 5 people who have lived in my lifetime that I very much have had that pleasure.

Well he drove off the tee most of the time to stay in fairway and out of bunkers but in one of his thirteen major wins, a par 5 605 yards long slightly uphill up to that point nobody had putt for an eagle and made it, Bobby hit driver-spoon to five feet and canned the putt for the eagle. Contemporary golfers of his era said he could hit over 300 but usually didn't, rough was long and thick bunkers were sand and dirt and some courses raked in furrows or didn't take at all. His 66 in a qualifier at a b open was one of the greatest rounds ever 6800 yards and some thought longer, he could've went lower had he made a few longer putts.

Basically, the swing is not different from today's one. The difference is just uniform.

about the same, they would be good. jones would be elite, middle pros middle, etc. its all the same as it ever was. relative to equipment available, nothing has changed in terms of skill versus an amateur.

@@jaybee7890 I believe the difference in the equipment they used in the 1920's and what is being used now would be a huge factor. I heard Gary Player say that he could hit the ball as far when he was 70 as when he was 30 due to modern clubs and golf balls.

same scores. Jones shot 72-69 in the 36 hole playoff at Winged Foot. Difference was course length - about 6600 yards instead of 7400. Jones hit it 250-260 off the tee. Skill level the same, as good as anyone today, better than most.
