1929 Nash Seaman Bodied Four Door Sedan BluBlk SumtFG090113

You're looking at a piece of history, here! Just imagine what happened the year it was built! Let the good times roll until the stock market crashed precipitously on October 29th (Black Tuesday)! People lost their life savings...banks folded, and there was no federal deposit insurance to come to the rescue. You can see why some kept what money they had stuffed in the mattress at home! Jobs evaporated overnight...the unemployed literally sold apples on the street corners! The times were dark indeed...and this car was made for those who were fortunate to still have money!

Hey, John! Good point about great technology living on! I love that art deco styling...the nasality you hear is a new microphone...part of a headset. I really have to find something better! Thanks for the comment and well wishes! :) Jack

That sure is a tribute to the engineering skill of Nils Erik! Nash certainly was a very respected company...it survived the depression still intact, and certainly was making a new, interesting design in 1949, yet changing it again in 1952. They certainly were ahead of the game with their introduction of Rambler. An interesting company that deserved to survive! You make a very interesting point..their innovation pervaded other cars...like weather-eye heating and ventilation! Thanks! :) Jack

Hey, Gene! Sometimes, things come together just right! I would never have known the story of this car had the owner not been there. What a great car to learn the history of! Thanks! :) Jack

Thanks Jack! "there's nothing new under the sun". My Mercedes has 16 plugs for the 8 cylinders. This Gem of an engine has 12 plugs for 6 cylinders! That dash screams art deco. Such a beautiful auto. Feel better Jack. Sounds like you got a cold or something.

It's so very nice to see originals like this. And i really love that dash. The engine, especially, in interesting. I was unaware of these dual ignition engines. It's really nice to hear the story of the front seat and the generosity of the neighbor who gave it to the new owner. Good to hear something good like that once in a while!

Dual ignition systems seemed to be popular about this time. It's good to know that there are generous people out there....they don't often make the headlines. Thanks! :) Jack

I have often wished there was "time travel"... I would definitely want to viisit the "Roaring '20s" before the "crash". This car is such a treasure! I have heard of duel ignition.. trying to remember where.. I love everything about this 1929 Nash! Those artillery wheels.. the cool instrumentation on the dash, and how the car was reunited with the origional seats! That engine configuration is something indeed! An absolute treasure Jack! Thanks!!

Hey, Karyn! You just never know when you'll run into a treasure like this! I was so lucky the owner was there to explain some of the history of the car! If only these old cars could talk..what tales they could tell! Thanks! :) Jack

I seen a 29 coupe rumble seat at a show in elora Ontario Canada maybe 8 years ago. It was beautiful done in black wood wheels Sidemount s. Twin ignition 8 cyl. Very rare. Run so quiet smooth. Way better built car than most other north American makes.

Hey, Ted! That was a great find! I think it's true that at the time there were so many car manufacturers run on a shoestring that there had to be plenty just "making do" with regard to quality and workmanship. By the mid 30's most had been sorted out. Nash was an old line brand and survived. Thanks! :) Jack

Thanks, Jack. My Dad's first car was a '29 Nash, but I doubt if it was as upscale as this one. BTW, my '79 Nissan trucklet had dual ignition.

Even though Nash did make 4 and 8 cylinder engines he is best known for his quality 6s. Dual ignition gives better combustion resulting in improved economy and power. An awesome survivor

Really cool car and great informative video Jack! I have a 1929 Nash that belonged to a friend that will be for sale soon if anyone is in the market for one. The car is rust free but needs a full restoration.

Vanboneio \ | commentary gaming channel | / Hey, Sam! Yes indeed..lots of nice cars here..there's a retirement community called "the Villages" and people there have great collector cars, and lots have customized golfcarts...money is no object. Florida is a great place for old cars...lots of people have brought them from wherever they were to down here so they can enjoy them year 'round. No snow or salt to worry about, except if they're by the ocean or gulf. Thanks! :) Jack
