19-Year-Old Thinks He Can Outsmart Police With A Fake I.D.

#cops #police #arrest
On February 12th, 2024. Officers were called to the airport regarding an underage man on a work trip trying to buy alcohol with a fake I.D. When officers spoke with him, he claimed that a friend that he just met at the airport gave him the I.D. to use and left. The man just kept lying to the officers until he slipped up and said it was a fake I.D. This is the body-cam footage of the events that followed.

I agree, but you are in your right mind when you are doing these things, in the Marines, driving. My son joined the Marines at 17… We had to sign him in. Alcohol is like a drug and can change your mental and cognitive status as we know. It alters your ability to make good decisions. So being young, when your brain is still forming then to add a drug into the mix is not a good idea.

@@bobby6569@bobby6569 Prior to 1969 the drinking age had been 21 across the country, but those laws fell to the individual states. Between 1969 and 1976, 30 states lowered the drinking age to 18 because the national voteing age had been lowered from 21 to 18. The US doesn't have the widespread public transportation infrastructure like many other countries do, we're simply too big and too spread out. So, we developed into a very car centric/reliant country... When we want or need to go somewhere, most of us drive. As a result, there was a sharp increase in alcohol related accidents and fatalities involving young people in the states that had lowered their drinking age. So much so, it prompted the federal government to pass the nationwide 21 law which went into effect in 1984. Since then an estimated 800 to 1000 young peoples lives have been saved annually. That doesn't include the lives of other people (victims) saved as a result as well. There's a lot of personal growth and life experience gained in the 3 years post High School. Typically, 21 year olds are more mature, have gained some common sense from life experience and make better choices than 18 olds do. Places like the UK can have a lower drinking age because, due to their public transportation, they don't have the widespread DUI issues. I understand that there many older people who are immature and make poor choices too, but the percentage of young people who do is much higher, they take more risks in general.

Do you mean some crimes should not be punished? You realize that if the bar owner gives alcohol to somebody under age, that can shut down their business? Even when they get fooled by fake ID. Thats why some bar owners dont hesitate to call the cops because if that happens they can say that they called the cops in the past so nobody can argue they "accepted" the fake ID on purpose. Just dont break the law... And if you dont like the law maybe talk to some legislators in your state? Funny btw that even a 16y old kid cant buy alcohol, scrach cards or tabacco but you can legally sell them pewpews in private (second hand) without reporting the sale? I am the first to agree that US laws are funny but laws are laws.

People say this all the time, thinking its some sort of intelligent insight....when all ot really is is an extremely unthinking base comparison with zero context or nuance. Sober 18 year olds are pretty damn mentally and physically competent when recognizing they are using a dangerous weapon for hunting or recreation...and how to do so safely. Its not rocket science. Sober 18 year olds are also quite mentally competent if they make it through bootcamp and end up a full soldier and see combat in a few years (so they aren't even 18 anymore when that actually happens in modern day. And in older days, they saw combat in times of mostly necessity and scarcity of soldiers, unlike the modern wars we wage.) 18 year old soldiers have many chances to make multiple thought through decisions that ultimately lead them to being soldiers...where IF they see combat...they are on HIGH mental alert and have older leaders directing them. And unless 18 year old citizen gun owners are outright criminals or mentally challenged.....handling a gun is a very easy thing to do safely. An 18 year old is absolutely capable of this responsibility. Alcohol...is a completely different story. An 18 year old is NOT typically consuming it in situations where they are on high alert with leaders directing them...nor is it typically consumed alone, in their bedroom in a safe and harmless environment. Teenagers with access to alcohol are consuming with friends and romantic interests where everyone is completely the opposite mindset of "high alert". Alcohol is also not an immediate danger like a gun is. So again, an 18 year old who would normally be responsible and on high alert with a gun....is going to not remotely be in that same frame of mind when consuming alcohol. Alcohol is not a "danger" until AFTER its been consumed enough to impair someone to at least some degree. THAT is what makes alcohol a danger in most of the population's hands....but ESPECIALLY in the hands of inexperienced and developing minds. An 18 year old mind on high alert is drastically different than one hanging around friends while drunk. And that drunk 18 year old mind can then go on to make really bad decisions.
