It's a sentence that he can't say. Imagine you in a world with two type of people liars and true tellers. The liars only tells lies and the true tellers only tell the truth. So the sentence "I am a liar" can never be said. It's the same as Pinocchio say "my nose going to grow now" If it true than is nose wouldn't grow and it will be a lie. If it's a lie so his nose will grow and it will be a true.
